I am scheduled to take FAR Nov. 30. I am using Becker and just finished F2. Already feeling very behind. But with work I am not really able to get a whole lot done during the week. I am on a 9/30 year end client right now so busy season is about to get real. Any advice on how to tackle this test? Or what to focus on as I feel so limited with time.

I didn't start really studying for FAR until after 9/15 (I'm in tax and that deadline for us is always a wreck), and my test is scheduled for 10/20, so I was kind of in the same boat as you. My best advice is to just take it one day at a time and give it a few weeks of consistent, everyday studying before you freak out or feel like you'll never get through the book. I remember getting through F2 and feeling like there was no way I could possibly cover all the material in time for my test, but now I only have two chapters left and I have a decent grasp on the material. I treat it like any other work deadline – no matter what happens, I just have to get this done.

I obviously haven't taken the exam yet but my advice in going through the textbook would be to type up notes for each chapter as you go along, and put your journal entries down on paper to look back on. When you're in F8 remembering the exact JEs for capital leases is going to be difficult unless you have a reference guide. That, and lots of progress tests. 🙂

    REG - 76
    BEC - 88
    FAR - scheduled for 10/20/14

Make sure you do a lot of flashcards. That helped for me anyways. F2 was terrible, the rest aren't so bad.
