I was contacted by a recruiter at a Big 4 firm about a position as within the internal audit department. Anyone have any insight into what this job entails? I don’t have any public experience, but working for a Big 4 firm would be something that I want to do. Is this a good job to get my foot in the door? Big 4 did not do interviews on my college campus, so this is my first interaction with a Big 4 firm.

It would probably consist of some SOX work, compliance testing, operational auditing, internal control testing, etc.

I know a few people the hop between financial audits and internal auditing for a Big 4. They seem to enjoy the internal auditing part.

I don't have a ton of experience in internal auditing. I have min operational auditing experience and a little tax compliance experience. Would you think that this would be an issue??

Probably not. Big 4 recruit people intelligent and driven enough to be able to stretch their skill sets.

They'll be more concerned about your personality fit with the engagement team, than perfect fit in the paper qualifications.

I worked in one of the Big 4's internal audit for 3+ years. Prior to that, I did 1 year+ financial audit. One thing I love about internal audit is there's more work-life balance compared to financial audit.
