Big 4 Interview Hotel Accomodations

    Hi,

I just received an invitation for the second interview with one of the Big 4.

During the registration process for the event, I came across with a question asking about whether I live 30 miles away from the company’s location. I, indeed, live about 45 miles away from the office, but got hired through a campus recruiting at my college which is located the same city as the office location (I commute for classes every other day).

I am almost positive that the company is only recruiting from schools nearby, so I might be the only one living this far away.

Should I accept the offer for the hotel accommodation, or would it hurt my chance of getting the position?

Please let me know. This is my dream company that I have always longed for.

Its fine to take the hotel as long as you are truthful about being more than 30 miles away.

Yeah, take it! Save yourself the stress of having to commute to the interview! If you fit their requirements go for it.

Take it! There is no mark against you for doing so, unless maybe you set the hotel room on fire?

I had a friend who commuted about a half hour into the city, and he took the room offered because he wanted to make sure he didn't have to deal with traffic in the AM. He got the offer.

Definitely take the hotel accommodations. I recently was in a very similar situation and took the hotel accommodations. I ended up getting an offer the same day I interviewed.

Better to be able to wake up and take your time to relax and properly prepare for the long interview process.

Only 30 miles for hotel accommodations? I could understand 100 miles away, but not 30. Don't take it if you feel you can make the drive ok. If you want to be relaxed and calm (in case anything happens morning of, i.e. flat tire, car battery died) then stay at the hotel.

Thank you so much for the advice 🙂

I will take the offer and stay in the hotel booked by the company and hope I don't set the room on fire ;p

@yesandstuff: When you get the offer that day, do you sign on sight in front of the partner?

@kky617 I got an offer from a Big 4 firm yesterday. They interviewed me two days ago but it seems they had initially planned to do all the interviews yesterday. I got my offer the evening after they had completed all their second round interviews, but it's just a verbal offer in my case. They said I'll be getting something in the mail in the next couple of days. I wouldn't worry about being put on the spot to sign right then. 🙂

I got a phone call from the partner later in the day. Then I received an email a couple days later.
