    Hello,

I was hoping for some advice from people who work at a big 4 firm. I have currently been extended an offer from a big 4 firm in their advisory services. I have completed my undergraduate degree in a non business/non engineering/shitty major from a strong state school. I am currently pursuing a masters of science in finance and an MBA dual degree from a decent local midwest regional school (has a decent local reputation). My undergrad GPA is 2.4 and my MSF GPA is 3.6. Currently, my MBA GPA is 3.8. I have also cleared two levels of CFA and have two years work ex at a manufacturing firm abroad.

I did not submit my undergrad transcripts in my online application, nor did I mention it. I also did not mention it on my resume. So far, I’ve kept giving them my graduate transcripts. In other words, at no place have I mis-stated or falsified any information, I just didn’t write a GPA at all for my undergraduate degree. Now I fear my offer will be rescinded if they ever find out. Would it come up in a background check? During on boarding, will it be ok if I just give them my graduate transcripts? What are all your thoughts, please let me know. thank you.

Although I do not work in Big 4, I did intern with one of the firms. I personally think that your masters gpa is sufficient. If they wanted to know your undergrad gpa, trust me, they would have asked for it. Besides, a lot of people, including myself, go on to get masters degrees just for that reason, to wipe out their undergrad gpa. Life happens and by earning a graduate degree and maintaining a good gpa shows that you have grown and matured. If in doubt, you can always ask your recruiter.

I think asking the recruiter would be suicide lol. I hope you're right! In the offer is tells me to provide them official transcripts to prove I graduated from my current degree I just hope they don't turn around and ask for my undergrad as well. Now I'll be in stress till the day I start working 🙁

Once you're in grad school, your prior education doesn't matter… as in, it will NOT hurt you if you turned things around in the grad school.

They may ask about it when you accept in order to complete the background check, but once you receive an offer, it's rare to have it revoked outside of 2008-2009 or if you misled/falsified anything.

Thanks! they haven't asked for it. they said I should keep sending them my graduate transcripts at the end of every quarter and after i graduate. The fact that they themselves are asking me to provide them transcripts leads me to think that info doesn't come in the background checks. and again, not falsified a word. Just haven't included it.

As long as your resume/cover letter/application it is made very clear that the GPA you are listing is your graduate GPA, you should be fine.

    Something like:

    Virginia Tech, GPA 3.8

    MA

    BA

    Would be misleading.

    WHile

    MA, Accounting – GPA 3.8 – 2015

    Virginia Tech

    BA, Accounting – 2013

    Virginia Tech

    would be okay.

It is extremely clear, I played no games. Even a 5 year old will be able to distinguish. I very clearly put my MBA GPA separately, my MSF gPA separately and below that put my undergrad degree and school with no GPA. plus my MBA/MSF and BA schools are different as well.

is it normal to put gpa on your resume?

    @ cprv19

It's normal if you have just graduated and are seeking your first professional job.

Also, I'd like to note that PwC had asked for my undergrad and graduate transcripts when I was going through the interview process. It may or may not be the norm for the other Big 4 firms.

I had a somewhat similar situation with a big 4 firm, except I listed both my original school's GPA (2.6), and my current school's GPA(4.0) While they did ask me about what led to the rise in my grades, it's clear they really didn't care all that much about my past, since they extended an offer nonetheless.
