Big 4 Salary Question

First time posting here, have read tons and quietly received lots of moral support while studying for the exams just have never posted.

So if I pass AUD on the 31st then I will be done with all the sections of the exam I have taken them while in school and I start at Deloitte on September 8th. I know that I will get a bonus for passing the exam but my question concerns what changes I can expect to see after my first year of work having the CPA Exam passed. Can I expect to see a higher raise than others who I start with who haven’t passed yet? The bonus is quite significant but can I expect my salary to raise enough after the first year that I will be making at least the same or more in the second year?

Any knowledge or advice would be appreciated, thanks and good luck to all those studying!

Zero impact on future pay/ratings/assignments; thats all based on your work performance. Enjoy the bonus though! 😀

Most public firms view becoming a CPA as a job requirement. As such, other than the bonus you won't see any preferential treatment for having the certification. But having it done is sort of reward in itself.

Oh, at Deloitte supervisors get a different title with and without the CPA… so you'll avoid the public shaming 🙂

And no promo to manager without the CPA

    I agree with previous posters.

I work at a Big 4 and the license doesn't mean sh–. You just need it for promotion. You get a pat on the back and a “congratulations” and then that's it. LOL Your billing rate increases, though, so Deloitte will be making more money off you but you won't see a dime of that.

That's too bad, so is it the same everywhere or mostly just at the Big 4? I have heard of people in industry getting good raises for passing the exam but I guess its not the same in public practice?
