Hey All,
I’ve taken BEC on July 13th and took a week off from a bad stomach flu (thank goodness I felt the nasty effects after the exam, I took pepto-bismol and used the restroom right before the exam). I started on July 20th.
It’s now July 31 end of the month, but I’ve only gone through the Becker lectures of Chapters 1 through 5, and there’s 10 total lectures. I’ve gotten through the FASB Codification, Revenue Recognition, Installment/%-Completion/Cost Rec, Fixed Assets, Depreciation, Marketable Securities–Cost, Equity, Acquisition, Leases, and Bonds primarily in these chapters. I’m sitting here at a Starbucks hammering chapter 3, 4, and 5 homework questions so I can move on to Chapter 6 (pensions). I have not yet touched Government/NFP and Pensions as of now.
On August 13 (first day at Big 4), I am flying out of state to Orientation and will be there til the 22nd (includes full time training). I get back to my hometown on the night of August 22, and I report to my home office August 24.
My original plan was to take the FAR exam right before I start, so I can really focus in on my professional career. Now, I have doubts I can finish learning and reviewing all the Becker material in time for the exam (aiming for Aug 10, 11, or 12).
I have NO obligations from now until I start on August 13 (no kids, no work, nothing), so I can study all day, full time. Do you think this will be enough time for me to take the exam before I start, or should I reschedule to the end of the month?
Even if I reschedule til the end of the month, I doubt I can put it any significant/meaningful study time because I will be already working full time and I have no idea how my days will look like now that I am working full-time, so maybe I can squeeze a couple hours at night but definitely no long study sessions or anything. I will also need to consider that I’m also learning on the job so I have to deal with Big 4 training AND study for FAR. Idk if that’s gonna really help me if I reschedule.
What do you guys think? I’m looking for any insights…
Thank you.
