    Hello,

I am so far applying for Winter & Summer Internships. One of the big 4 invited me for an office visit for winter internship for spring 2015.

I am also applying for full time positions with mid size firms that start approximately a year from now (Dec 2015).

So is it reasonable to accept a full time position for next fall, and do a winter internship with the big 4? Since the full time offer with the big 4 is not guaranteed (likely, but not guaranteed). I think, this way if I finish my big 4 internship and they don’t offer me a full time position, I’ll still have the opportunity with a mid size firm?

same for summer internships as well…?

But what if after my winter or summer internship, they do offer me a full time position? then, what should I do? I don’t think it would be right to take back my FT acceptance from the other firm…

any advice would be appreciated! thanks

I'm a big fan of hedging. Based on your knowledge right now, you have no full time employment offers–I'd accept one offer.

    Risk:

Chance of a black mark forever on your name from rescinding < Chance of NO job after your internship

If you like them and they offer you a full time position, there is no harm in rescinding a previous acceptance. Just be very sure you LIKE the place you interned (there is a thread a few down about a person who interned then accepted a full time job that they now hate, because the experience is so vastly different.)

If you rescind your other acceptance but stay at the full time job for a year or more, you're fine. Worst case scenario is you want to go back to the place that initially made the offer and they won't give you the time of day. Otherwise it hardly limits your future options.
