    Hi ninjas,

I am getting a chance to visit a big4 office after my on-campus interview. Can someone offer me some suggestion / advice / tips / insight for an office visit? I have never done this before, I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Thank you for helping!

I was wondering the same too. And your scores are amazing. How did you do that? LOL

Dress nicely. I had an office visit where we were told it was business casual, yet all of the guys wore suits and ties. Glad I brought a jacket (I'm female so tie didn't matter) that I could throw on just in case so that I didn't stick out as the one who didn't “dress up.”

Be friendly, not too casual, but let your personality come through. They want to know if you're someone they could spend hours upon hours locked in an office with. Don't be cocky, but don't be silent either.

They will probably do a little presentation and bring in some 1st and 2nd year staff for you to ask questions of. Prepare some questions for this that are thoughtful, because otherwise it gets super awkward when no one speaks. Asking a good question at that point will help you stand out.

    REG - 87 (Becker)
    AUD - 96 (Becker & Ninja MCQs)
FAR - 85 (Becker, Ninja MCQs, Audio and Blitz)
BEC - Last one! Waiting on score release 11/24!

Remember: a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

If you have the office visit, the job is officially yours to lose… It is in your hands.

Expect to speak with a manager, an HR person and a partner. Expect to also be buddied with a 1st year associate.

Like others said, dress nicely and be yourself… remember you are being watched the entire time, just don't stick out as somebody that they wouldn't want to work with and you're golden.

    @ umkcfuturecpa & cook7166

Thank you for all your opinion and advice! I got the offer right after my office interview. They were very nice and quick, and gave me until 10/31 to make the decision. Again, thanks for your words, and good luck on your remaining exams!

ClimbMt.CPA – Congratulations on the job and passing the CPA exam with awesome scores!! Can you possibly share your interview experience? I have an interview with a Big4 in 3 weeks and would like to prepare to ensure I too get the job. Do you remember any specific questions that they asked? Thanks in advance 🙂

Thank you. I'd love to share my experience with you. First, congratulations to you too on the office interview, as cook7166 said, if you got the office interview, the job is yours to lose. So having a winning mentality going into your interview is critical.

I was interviewed for a tax full time position, so my questions might be different from what you may be asked if you applied to audit, risk assurance or advisory, etc. I had two partners and one director interviewed me. Overall, it was very laidback and relax, mostly conversational topics, e.g. why tax? why pwc? why this office? what do you do for fun? etc. Some behavioral questions I can still remember were related to multi-tasking; how to deal with deadlines, team-work, and how do you manage stress, etc. Sorry I'm unable to be too specific as I cannot recall any specific questions, but overall, it was very conversational.

You must have questions prepared to ask. I asked questions like what are you looking for in a candidate? how can I get ready for a position like this? what do you like the most about the firm, about the office? etc. So, just be yourself and be prepared for them to get to know you, and they are expecting you to get to know them as well. Good luck to you and keep me posted. Thanks.

Thanks for the tips, ClimbMt.CPA. And congratulations on your offer. I, too, have a few offers and 3 of them are from Big4. Not intend to brag, but share a moment of joy with a future Big4-er lol
