@Tony, I hope you don't mind me asking but now that FAR and AUD is done (huge congratulations!), how do you plan to tackle REG. Saw all your posts/threads and you have seriously inspired since I'm stuck in a rut myself with Reg. Took it 4 times and still in the low 60s.

Also saw you reply on a previous thread that you entered a Big 4 despite low gpa.I have a similiar background with you as well, so I'm feeling discouraged that I may be failing these exams since it correlates with my GPA score.

Any suggestions for me to pass REG? Just do MCs like crazy? I just want to give up too its just been incredibly disheartening especially with a FT position starting soon at a big 4. How do you balance work and studying? Also, what materials do you swear by?

Hope you can spare some of your time, would be seriously appreciated. Thx alot in advance

No problem. This is what I did! I bought one of those composition books, I would read the material and take general overall notes. If I didnt understand a section, I would spend more time reading, and then writing it out in the composition book. I did this for FAR and AUD and it really helped. I would then go and spend sometime doing M.C. questions, prob. a good 80% of the time, and then simulations. The day of the test I would NOT open the computer, I just read over my notes and went in and took my test. Put in the hours, quality hours, and you will pass. I gave up Cable Television (it is easier then you think), I told my friends I only have 1 free night so plan accordingly, and I told myself not to date untill I pass the exams.

I graduated with a 3.2 GPA, the test does not reflect your GPA. Some people are good test takers, others are not. You just gotta own the material.

Becker is the materials to go by. I wake up early 5AM to get my workout in, I get 1 hour in and then head home shower and off to work. Im at work by 730AM and I work till 530, and then after I will spend 3-4 hours a night studying. When the weekend comes im putting in 8-10 hours a day. If I can pass FAR with an 82, and AUD with an 80, you got this.

I hate to say it, but getting 4 60s, you gotta change something…. How many hours are you putting in? Do you understand the materials? How do you study? How bad do you want it?

    BEC: 73,78 79
    AUD: 60, 60, 70, 80
    FAR: 49, 64, 71, 82
    REG: 68, 68, 73, 78

@Tony, thank you for your reply! As a disclaimer, I really want to say sorry for all these questions I'm about to ask you but I would appreciate your feedback!

No, I completely agree with you-that's exactly my gripe! Continually scoring in the low 60s shows that I have not nailed the concepts so I'm really not sure what I should be doing. I'm just wondering if I am bombing REG since I did not do well in my college tax courses.

Currently I have detailed notes I typed up from Becker + another set of VERY condensed notes with just formulas (no paragraph type notes-i refer to this condensed version right before I take my exam) I'm using Becker as well and thinking about adding NINJA MCQ to see if its worth the hype. What do you think? Are you thinking about adding in NINJA as well? I do not write “notes” as I do these MCQ. Can you explain what you mean by writing “notes” as you do MCs? Do i Just re-write my current notes over and over? I usually just re-answer all the questions I get wrong without writing things. I find it more effective to actually solve problems rather than reading notes. However, has re-writing your notes help you retain things better?

Right now, I study about 2-3 hours. I noticed that If I study beyond that, I get burned out and end up having a LONG BREAK. I will begin work soon and I plan on studying similarly to you as well. I am not a morning person so I'll try to get in 1-3 hours after work. And of course utilize my weekends for strictly studying.

    Thanks again!

Do not overload yourself with having ninja, becker, wiley, etc, etc etc. Stick with one study material. I found Becker's books to be just perfect. Their information was to the point and easy to follow. I would then write out the notes form the book, the general ideas. For example, for Gross Income in individual tax I would just paraphrase certain things, and if I didnt understand something I would write it out and read it out loud. That helped me.

If I didnt understand a MC answer I would read EVERY single explanation. If I still didnt understand, I would write down the correct response, and read the information in the book. Every question i got wrong I would do this for. You just need to stop stressing and just focus! You just need to give yourself the extra motivation. I found insirping quotes helpful during this time. You can do it. If I can pass so can you.

    BEC: 73,78 79
    AUD: 60, 60, 70, 80
    FAR: 49, 64, 71, 82
    REG: 68, 68, 73, 78
