Has anyone had an issue similar to this? I’m on my last section of the CPA exam. I’ve been studying a lot. I basically have no life. I work and I study. I basically just see my boyfriend on the weekend when I have time. He’s been undertanding, but he’s getting frustrated that I don’t have much time for him. He understands that it is only for a few weeks but that doesn’t ease his mind.

I have to pass this exam. It means everything to me. He knows that I am trying to better my life. I don’t want to lose him in the process. Honestly, if I could, I would spend every single free moment outside of work studying. But I have to see him and my family.

Any thoughts or advice?

My employer offers a bonus if you pass the exam within the first year of being hired. You know what I did to get quiet study time? Told my fiance the cpa exam passing bonus is all hers if I pass it. That bought me a TON of time to study.

I told my friends girlfriend repeatedly she needs to get a “backup boyfriend” so she can survive busy season. My friend doesn't appreciate that, but I hope she considers it, the dude works 80 hour weeks for ~4 months.

OMG glad I'm not the only one in this boat! My bf and I live 40 minutes apart… when I'm there trying to study I get nothing accomplished!! It's hard because we don't see each other much. So when were together all we want to do is spend time with each other. I definitely think it would be easier if we lived together. He tries to be understand but I know it bothers him inside. All you can do is tell him it's a temporary phase and the fast your pass the faster you guys can see each other more. He can always help you study 🙂 that will get him to leave you alone real quick lol

@Rocky123 – Tell your boyfriend that all you need is this last section and he just have to be patient. You then make a promise to him that if he is patient and when you pass the last section, you and him both will go see the “50 Shades of Grey” movie together. You then tell him you will do anything and evrything with him in the movie.

So if you don't get to study your chance of failure increases significantly and you have to…..KEEP STUDYING…thus prolonging the situation and the problem. If he wants a suga momma he needs to relax and be supportive.

Boyfriends come and go..CPA = lifetime. I know..easier said than done.

I am continually putting my wife and child through it. 20 months to complete a masters degree and now approximately another 10-12 months to complete the CPA exam. I know my wife hates it but she knows that it is best for our future. Her emotions get the best of her at times, but we work through it and I spend as much time as I can with the family. I'm 25% of the way there.

luckily my bf is supportive, and just as busy as me in his last year getting a double degree in mechanical/electrical engineering and applying for a NASA fellowship + grad school… but talk about needy dogs, I have a 2 year old Italian Greyhound who will steal anything he can find to try to get my attention, or just sit there and whine at me, and I even take him to daycare while I'm at school so he'll hopefully be less energetic when I need to study at night haha

I'm in a very similar situation. My sig O was pretty good during my first few exams; he knew how important it was to me, etc, always making sure he wasn't a distraction. Now that I'm on my last exam, all he ever does is complain about how I never have any free time….super annoying, actually.
