So I’ve become partner. Part of the deal is I need to bring clients in. What techniques do you guys use to bring in business? I’ve gotten most of my business off referrals. Any tips?

Just curious (not trying to start anything at all): You made partner of an accounting firm? How did you make such a roll without your CPA? I assume you oversee Tax and/or Audit in your roll as partner?

I do not work in public accounting, but live CPE can be a good way to build your book of business.

In my state it is illegal to have an unlicensed partner in an accounting firm.

That aside, the best way I've found to drum up new business is to subscribe with the secretary of state. They will notify you monthly of all new companies formed/registered in your state.

No but I'll go on a limb and guess that Bluefin has a not so traditional/average employment situation. He/She has also mentioned being able to dissappear for weeks at a time in the summer without flack.

I'm guessing its not the type of employment many other people are likely to find themselves in 🙂
