    Hi,

    has anyone studied with old materials and passed the exams? I have 2010 Roger Review full course, that I couldn’t study due to my high risk pregnancies. Now I’m trying to get back to studying but don’t have much money to purchase new materials. Do you think I can study with old ones or that would be really a waste of time?

    I wouldn't recommend studying with them. With all the changes that took place for the 2011 tests, I think you're much better off getting newer materials.

    I am not studying with *old materials, but I know some people that have passed using 2012 books.

    If you are short on cash, I'd imagine that you can pick up a 2012 set somewhere at a good discount. I'd hate to see you fail tests and then have to pay the already expensive fees over again to retake. I'd consider it an investment and get new materials.

    Yes, you can. I doubt it would be a good option though…

    Use the newest materials possible. There will be too many discrepancies using old materials in conjunction with new materials. Many things have changed throughout all four exams from 2012 to 2015.

    Passed All Four Exams!

    I'll echo what Nute said – get new lectures. You really don't want to be taking notes of old standards, and there's a good chance that trying to reconcile your old lectures and new book/test bank will confuse you. Not worth it in my opinion.

    They move things around each year (jerks!) so it does get tough to follow at times. Different courses do this to varying degrees.

    If you're really short on cash, it may be worthwhile to save up to at least get maybe a 2014 set. Unless you're fresh out of school and just need a quick refresh, you may end up spending more time and money due to needing retakes than if you had just purchased the new sets from somewhere.

    it's a calculated risk either way. You certainly CAN pass, but it will lose some level of productivity in the process. Good luck

I was trying to be cheap as i got FAR video lecture of off Ebay for $40 bucks (Yaeger) and the book (Becker) for $70. i guess it will be wise to buy the newer version. i just can't afford to waste time but money will if God is willing come later. Thank you guys so much

    I think it really depends if the lectures help you that much. I didn't watch lectures and I did fine on the exams. You could use the old lectures to reinforce concepts from the book knowing that the book trumps the old lectures. I personally wouldn't buy new lectures, but it is personal preference.

    I wouldn't study REG or FAR with the old materials. Too much has changed in those two areas alone.

    * BEC – 82 (1/2013; lapsed 2014), 71 (10/2014), 83 (7/11/15)
