I just want to know if the 2014 Becker will still be good to use to study for a 2016 test. Thank you

Did some research and it looks like I should be good, except for far, which is the one I was most worried about. Will it be enough to study with 2014 Becker and look up the changes? Has anyone had this problem before?

get an updated book from Becker for $15. unless your becker expired, in which case you will need to get MCQ supplement anyways- you can't study for the CPA exam using Becker books alone (no matter what year)

you're gonna need MCQ supplement anyways. and NINJA is as good a deal as any, might as well update the books with the BOGO offer they got going.

Ninja notes and MCQ will have all the updated 2015/2016 info you need. Use the 2014 Becker book for concepts and use Ninja products to prepare. Much cheaper than paying for new Becker materials if you're trying to save some money.

    FAR - 08/31/2015 80
    REG - 11/30/2015 73, 04/18/2016 80 Done!!!

I took FAR in August, AUD in October, and BEC in November all using Becker from 2013. I did get a set of updated becker flashcards to h help me spot the updated topics. Otherwise, I just printed out the becker updates from their website. I also used cpa review for free as supplementary questions.
I can't promise anything, and I can't say Anthony about REG until I take it, but you should be ok.

I dont read the books. I only work multiple choice questions and I have passed two parts doing that before (tho one has expired).

How do I go about buying ONLY the multiple choice questions for CPA Ninja?

wait you passed 2 sections doing ONLY the becker MCQ's in the book? (like the 14 questions x 6chapters) = 84 questions?
or do you mean the thousands of Becker MCQ's that are in their software?

i am just a little confused, if you dont read the books then why does it matter if its 2014 or 2016? is your Becker expired?

plz provide more info so we can help you

you can find 3months access to NINJA MCQ's for $47/section on another71.com (the non-forum part of the site)

Because I want to practice with questions that reflect what I will see on the actual test.

No I am talking about the hundreds of questions on becker. They are probably software questions but I dont have the software. I got these questions through alternative means. The questions do not update this way.

Sounds like OP may have purchased PDFs of questions. Just so you know all review courses but their questions from the AICPA. So it's not like Becker has special questions that will reflect the actual exam. If you read through the forum you will realize that people always comment about how they see the same questions in Ninja as they would in Becker or in Wiley. The main difference is some review courses like Gleim will throw in questions from the CMA exam or other exams with related material. The main difference for me is the layout and how the questions are presented and also the price point. I hope you didn't pay an exhorbitant amount of money for the PDFs when you could have bought Ninja for $47.

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 1/6/18
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD
    BEC - TBD

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

I am so ready for this nightmare to be over. Been at this way too long.

I didnt pay an exorbitant amount of money for the PDFs. I paid much less than CPA Ninja questions would cost me

What I mean by I want it to reflect the questions I see in the exam is that I want the questions to be updated. Instead of “Lower of Cost or Market” I should see “Lower of Cost or NRV”

As it stands now I dont know if LCNRV is a single step process (like IFRS) or if it is still a 2 step process like LCM was. The PDF questions dont reflect these changes.

Going Concern has replaced Extraordinary Items in the content specification outline. What do I need to know about going concern? What type of questions will they ask? etc.

I see what you mean. You may want to check the CSO or the individual section topics in the forum. I know people are usually quick to respond.

I never really keep track of changes since Jeff just updates as changes come along. Do you have a more recent textbook or is all your material 2014? If you have an updated textbook then you can pick up on changes as you go. It just sounds like a unnecessary headache trying to make sure you are not studying out dated stuff but I know people that have passed on their first try with out dated materials.

Have you tried to check the Becker site to see if they posted 2015 and 2016 updates. I know in the past they just would post PFFs of updates and reference the page numbers. Not sure if that would be helpful. Or you can just google or search the forum the changes from 2014 to 2015 to 2016 and make note of questions that cover that material.

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - NINJA in Training
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 1/6/18
    FAR - TBD
    REG - TBD
    BEC - TBD

    AUD - 73, 72 retake 7/2/2016
    BEC - 8/20/2016
    REG - TBD
    FAR - TBD

All my material is 2014. I am not concerned about the text since I learn a lot more from the questions. If CPA ninja will ask questions that are up to date for Q1 2016 (starting now) then I will pay the $47. That's no problem. I dont care if I study outdated questions that dont make it to the exam. I am more concerned about questions that WILL make it to the exam. I dont want to pick the answer that would be correct under LCM when I should've picked the answer that reflects LCNRV.

i am very cost concious- i was going to get PDF's of Becker questions on ebay for $30/section..then i realized that for $17 more i can get NINA MCQ software with adaptive learning…that gets updated for new material. and i wouldnt have to cover half the page because I do not want to see the answer.

my advice: dont be cheap when it comes to your future!

it is a nightmare studying with outdated materials. (my firm does not cover Becker, unlike the Big4) I was resentful and was shopping around for cheap ways to study. I had to ask myself how much is my time worth? if i was going to spend an extra 20hours studying with outdated materials- im straight outta college my times is worth about $20/hr- thats 20×20= $400 extra bucks on study materials- thats a 10point combo. and god forbid it causes you to fail a section, well thats 100hrs x 20 = $2,000 thats the higher end review course out there. ask yourself how much your time is worth?

not to mention that PDF copies of copyrighted becker material is illegal. Like, well, against the law! I could see from your secrecy and hesitance in revealing it at first that you are ashamed/bothered by it.

nevertheless, I wish you the best of luck. I realize everybody studies @ according to their own budget/time/methods/preferences.

    Hi Sunni,

I'm also considering sticking with my 2014 Becker material for the 2016 FAR exam. My understanding is there's two major changes to look out for – LCNRV and Extraordinary Items.

My question is – did you stick with your 2014 material? Or did you end up getting something else? I'm in the same boat – worried about using outdated material. I'm trying to make due with my financial constraints. Thanks in advance!
