   Hey, I may not be liked for what I am about to say but I am sick of the people who come on here and never post anything helpful. All they do is come on here and suck up information and the only time you here from them is when they post how wonderful their score was or when they're asking about advice because they failed a test. Contribute to the form instead of simply taking from it.

   Shouts out to people like Allyson, KB24, the two herbs, Minimorty, T-rex, keeptrying, CPAman, KillaKing, pshustler and kandisjoy who always contribute to the form!

   Aww, that's a little harsh. I mean, the main purpose of the forum is for people struggling with the exam. Some peoples' personal style is to watch nervously until they pass and then they're so excited they post. The forum probably wouldn't even be nearly as good without the "audience".

   However, at the same time, I'm all for recognizing those top contributors. Those on your list are all very good posters.

   This website is a great resource for candidates. That's the whole purpose behind it. So you're saying anyone who wants to just read the site has to post as well? You kind of sound very elitist. This is for everybody, not just active posters. Some people prefer to lurk. It's not a sin.

   I had stalked these forums from September 2010-January 2011, I didn't have anything to really offer because I was new and a little nervous. Now I post all of the time and I think I am a good contributor. This is my fourth testing window and from what I have seen in the previous windows, this is usually when the bulk of people post. Some people don't have the time to be on here posting all window long. I don't think it's right to post about those people that might feel uncomfortable about posting..

   I agree with Peanut and Exhausted. It is the yin and yang that makes this site successful. I receive a benefit from all of the posters, frequent and non-frequent. I also have been the benefactor many times from the people that Haze mentioned. I can also say that I benefitted (with info, a laugh, or commiseration) from the other posters on this very thread.

   All in all...so thankful we have this venue.

   First, thank you for the shout out. You are a great contributor as well. Its always fun to engage in some good conversations on the board.

   Second, I'd say that I am pretty much on board with your sentiments. The forums rely on participation from everyone to draw people coming back. The insightful contributions and overall support from the people on the board is what makes people come back. I agree that it is selfish and unfair to take without contributing something at some point in return. Take a penny, give a penny, right?

   Also, I don't buy this notion that people are too nervous or afraid to post. Its an anonymous forum! Plus, we are all trying to become Certified PUBLIC Accountants. If you can't post on an anonymous forum, how are you going to survive in the real world? Step it up people!

    @CPAMan, to echo Keeptrying, don't be embarrassed!! So many people who post here have failed, and you have no idea how much courage you give to others who feel they can't do it, or are scared they will fail. When I first came to this website and saw how many people did indeed fail and kept trying, I realized that it's not so uncommon to fail, and that it is possible to get up and go on and do it again and again till you get it right.

    You are not in a small minority who fail, because I don't think it is a minority :) ... Good for you to not let a failing grade get to you, and for keep pushing ahead!

    I think the great thing about this forum is the free advice doled out to those in need. I'm always willing to give advice, if I can. Some people are simply looking for a bit of comfort/support, which is understandable going through this ordeal.

    I just passed my first two exams and though I would share that with other folks on here; I like to read about others doing well as it gives me a bit of inspiration to keep going. I certainly didn't think anybody would be scornful about it.

    It's a free forum. Don't read the post if it you aren't interested. I feel genuinely bad for people who post "failed again...." and I certainly won't wag my finger at them for voicing their disappointment.

    I agree with keeptrying and acct, when I lost my credit for REG I felt like a complete failure, I didn't think that happened to people. A year later I found this website and I realized it was common that people lost their credits and that really, really helped me. I think with this forum we all learn from each other and we can get encouragement even from failures, we just have to keep our heads up and keep going at it.

I can understand being a newbie and you don't have much info to share but some people obviously just come on here and contribute nothing but a score. Some advice is good whether its simply how you felt leaving a test or your thoughts on a review program. Simple stuff. I just hate when I come on here during release time and see all these names I've never seen before. They've taken 2 or more parts and haven't said a thing on the forums but " I passed with an 85". I mean come on.

    @HazeEastwood- Thanks for your kind words. But I'm afraid I do get on people's nerves sometimes. For example, I've annoyed many people recently because I've been whining about my REG experience. If you think about it, if the AICPA would release scores a lot faster, I wouldn't be whining as much.

    Haze, thanks for the shoutout. Like pshustler this forum has helped me, and I enjoy giving back. The only people that bother me are the trolls. While I found that connecting with others going thru the same experience really helped me, I understand that not everyone feels comfortable posting. I only have one issue with the score release posters. While I'm glad that they've passed or sorry that they failed, I'm more interested in the scores from the people that I've gotten to "know". They can be tough to find when sifting thru lots of pages.

    To add to the general discussion, I use to contribute alot to posts but in the last months I have been discouraged due to what seems to be small alliances popping up.... Nevertheless I have always suggested this site as a great resource tool for fellow co workers and classmates

    @ HazeEastwood, I personally dont feel a need to post until if I have something meaningful to say. Scores out or not, if its not meaningful or going to help the next person then there is no need to say "Any word on Reg or FAR... or ask a question about why ur section is greyed out" its pointless and only adds more comment to the site and prevent someone from actually reading something that can help them. You havent added much also to this site. You started a conversation about people in GA? Really that suppose to be a post on a forum? Now if other want to keep commenting all day thats their decision and I aint mad at them. Yes people dont comment until they receive a score and it does clog up the forum but we cant prevent that. but I know now you are done with your exams but before you were done I am sure you wanted to know what state were receiving their scores and what NTS.

    Hi to all! I felt a little guilty after reading this thread and it inspired me to register. I didn't have any advice to give and no comments to add, so I was just kinda lurking. I started preparing for the exam this summer and this forum has been a great resource for me in both the support and advice areas - hopefully I will be able to pass some of that along to others.

    It is incredible that some others are willing to help those of us who are struggling with the exam. I think I will gladly stick around and help others our when I am in the position on having the entire exam passed. Right now, I really don't know what to expect for half of the tests since I only took 2, and be patient and invest in us and hope that we pay dividends on the forum to the rest of the people who will be looking for advice in the near future :)

    Score release time is a b***h. Everyone is on edge........but I just wanted to contribute a thought. Take me with a grain of salt--because I am older (just turned 48 last WED) and I feel like I look at things much differently than in my younger days. I, for one, am not bothered by the posters that come out at scoretime. Main reason is that -life is different for everyone. I couldn't possibly know what nnenna, keeptrying, or eboneecpa has going on in their lives, or what is moving or motivating at this time. Maybe one of them is going thru a divorce, lost a job, lost a loved one, having trouble with one of their kids, getting married, having a child, taking care of an elderly parent--the list goes on. I think it may be assumed it is apathetic to not contribute, but the reality is that isn't always the case. For some people, the weight of life and this exam maybe is at the tipping point.

    Things aren't always so cut and dry, the older I get, the more I see things are grey.

    I won't say that the original post was ridiculous, but it was callous. The anonymity of this forum allows people to say things on here that leave me shaking my head. There's no way somebody would walk up to me, in person, and tell me that my passing score announcement isn't "useful" to anybody and that I should keep it to myself. If you are that kind of person, I sure as hell wouldn't want to associate myself with somebody so blunt and cold that they can't understand the simple rejoice of somebody passing a section of the CPA exam.

    Man, score release week really gets people on edge! As one of Jeff's weekly bloggers, I felt the need to jump in this discussion as it has impact me personally.

    I'm not a normal contributor on these boards. I read them every day religiously, but very rarely, if ever, post (which I think is fine.) To me, I believe that if you come on here and read the boards, but don't post, that's okay. It's a public arena and you have the choice to post or not. When I first visited this site about 6 months ago (right after my first exam), I loved it.
    I loved reading other people's horror/success stories about their exam experiences because they related so perfectly to my own that it gave me hope, relief, whatever you want to call it. I never once felt the need to post because the stories were enough for me. If the whole idea of this board is to make people participate, then it should be a subscription based board where you have to pay to get access to this kind of stuff. But, I don't feel that's what Jeff's goal is/was with the site. I truly feel its a place where anyone who is going through this can go to find help/support/etc.

    We're all in the same boat. The CPA Exam is a deeply personal experience for everyone on here, so we all share it, together. Some of us may be more vocal than others, some of us may just like to read other people's stories and leave it at that without participating. Both, I feel, are perfectly acceptable contributions. To those of you who contribute daily (minute by minute during score release :)), I thank you. You're stories and advice keep me going and give me hope that this exam will be conquered. To those of you who "troll" or only get on to find out information, do what you feel comfortable with. Don't not post because you are worried about this or that. If you can't post because you're too busy, that's fine. But, taking advantage of people just to find out information isn't the best way to approach this board.

    That's just my two cents. I'm not trying to start an argument, just trying to quell one :)

    I don't necessarily see it that way. That's not the point of a public forum such as this. If the whole purpose was to have people participate, make it a subscription based website. Some people just aren't comfortable or just flat out have no desire to participate. I don't like it necessarily, but I don't feel they need to be publicly lashed because of it. Granted, I don't post as often as most of you, so it probably is different through your set of eyes. It's just a tough situation because we don't really know the stories of everyone who doesn't participate...

    By the way... nice Audit score! I'm jealous :)

    I have to admit, I am guilty of not contributing very much to the forum. I understand everyone's perspective and during score release time, everyone's emotions are @ its highest. I realize that not contributing can be offensive to those who contribute often, so I will try my best to contribute more often. Hopefully, we all can get along and continue to work towards a common goal: passing the CPA exam.

    Yeah, passed audit by the hair on my chinny chin chin. I thought I did well on the SIMS and poorly on the MCQ. I got my score report and I was stronger on MCQ and weaker on SIMS. So weird.

    I'll take your BEC score, though. ;-)

    Funny story... a guy I work with got a 69 on Audit in the April/May window, and I got a 70 in the same window. He got stronger in SIMS and weaker in MCQs. I got WEAKER in both!!!! And still beat his score!

    I'm telling you, the scoring of this exam is IMPOSSIBLE to figure out.

    I don't post on this site very often. Besides working full-time, studying for the exam, and taking care of my 5 kids, I don't have a lot of time to think of something clever, interesting or note worthy to post. I really don't have much to say other than - I don't have time to get my housework done, I feel guilty neglecting my kids, I feel guilty that I am missing study time when I am attending one of my kids' sporting events, I feel guilty that I am not paying any attention to my friends and other family members. I do like to skim the forum when I am taking a study break but that's about it. If I spend too much time on here then I feel guilty because I should be studying. I even feel guilty right now because I am at work and I am posting on this forum instead of working! Maybe I should change my screen name to Guilty7. :)
