Hello everyone,
I am 31 years old and considering a career switch to Accounting. I have a Bachelor’s in Finance and an MBA, and I’ve had progressive upward movement in the Financial Services industry in my current career.
I can graduate with a Bachelor’s in Accounting in 12 months and be eligible (from an academic standpoint) to take the CPA, which is what I want to do.
I am concerned that I will be 32 when I graduate and probably about 34-35 when I get my CPA. Would employers consider me to be too old to hire into an entry-level position? Are the career prospects the same for a person doing accounting as a second career versus someone starting off fresh? Does anyone have any advice for me?
Thank you for your honest and straightforward responses. I would rather hear any negative feedback straight forward than have it sugarcoated.
