Hi, I have an accounting degree but I am currently working in logistics for 3 years which has nothing to do with accounting. I was wondering if its possible to still enter the accounting field. Would taking the CPA exam help even though I don’t have any experience in accounting? Thanks

Yes, you can still enter the accounting world, but you will probably have to enter at an entry-level position and an entry-level wage. Also, from what I have gathered, entering the Big 4 accounting world is hard if you're not a current student, but the rest of the accounting world (government, industry, small-firm public, not-for-profit, etc.) is more open to hiring people who have been out of school for a couple years.

Note that the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam exceed that of a Bachelors, so you will most undoubtedly have to take additional classes first before you will be allowed to even sit for the exam.

Well, you have three through which you still enter the world of accounting. Newspapers, internet and through headhunter. These three are best options for getting job in accounting sector.

Answer is yes that the CPA will “help” you get into an accounting position. Combine that with networking to make the most out of it. It's still possible that you pass the exam and have a hard time finding work without a solid network in place.

I'd take a look at your state's requirements for sitting for the exam before moving forward.

You have the same situation with me. However, I just have been working for a logistics company for 6 months. I got my Master degree in accountancy in March 2014. I am applying for the CPA exam and waiting for NTS. Now my problem is if I should quit my current job and focus in CPA exam or still working FULL TIME. I have never worked and studied at the same time so I feel so stressed now.
