    Hi Everyone,

Well I just got my results from FAR, my second try, and I am devastated, A 74!!! How could this happen!? I tried so hard, studied so much. What am I doing wrong? I have used my CPA review course, which I am elated to say has worked for me. My first time I got a 69, and now a 74, so the progress is there, but is there something more that I can do? I don’t want to hear, “keep it up” or “your almost there”. What I want to hear is you passed.

So, now that I have had time to get upset about it, I need to figure out what I can do to make the process more effective so I can pas FAR before tax season is underway. I feel that I have retained a lot of the material and information, but now I need to get into a mentality of passing this exam so I can sit for Audit, Regulation and BEC. I will continue to use Roger CPA review because the material is perfect, and I will continue to use the Ninja notes, but are there any other tips out there people can give me? Am I being too hard on myself? any advice helps!

I recently failed FAR as well, I'm going to concentrate on the areas that that I got “weaker” and “comparable” on until mastered. I'm also using Roger.

@ Adam – Yes… most likely being too hard on yourself. I know firsthand (as many many others do to) how hard it is and the inital reaction is probably the worst of it.

I was in the same boat you are now about a week ago (although I scored a 73), this is my last section to complete, sections start expiring 1/31/13, and I'm working out of town on an audit pretty much through 1/30/13, which is when I'm taking it again and must pass. So again, trust me, I feel your pain.

How'd you feel about your SIMS? Do you have your score breakdown or did you just get the score online?

One thing that has helped me is to realize that there is INCREDIBLE variances between tests people receive (ignoring all adapative features of the testlets) and especially the SIMS. I can't remember who posted it, and it wasnt long ago, but someone said their first FAR exam was stupid hard, got a 61, continued preparing, took again, got an 82…and attributed the success to the test being flat out easier.

    Hope this helps…

@Kelz – ugh I wish I had your bond SIMS! I didn't have many questions on bonds at all and that was a strong area for me! I had all the little areas that we're told aren't tested much but are a little tricky as SIMS. I knew all the harder stuff like Gvt, Bonds, Leases… ugh.

@sam haha that is funny. Well it is and it isn't, just funny that I got bonds which I only knew the basics on how to do it (the questions I was asked were nothing like the ones Becker asked-I could do the ones on the Becker review) and you knew it really well and didn't get many. I can't remember what I was asked on the exam (I block it all from my brain as soon as I leave 🙁 which is unfortunate) but I just remember thinking, I did not do that with the Becker hw and practice exams! Maybe when we sign in they have a way of knowing what we don't know very well and the put that on our exam. JK, I don't think they can read our minds….

    B-Passed
    A-Passed
    R-Passed
    F-Passed
