Classical music to increase focus and concentration? :)

I was watching a video about how to increase memorization and concentration skills.

I was impressed to know that you retain more while you listen classical music, from Bach, Mozart etc.

It was suggested as well to divide the study time in periods with short rests because your mind retains better than study long hours.

Hope it helps! We will see hahaha!

Other than while watching lectures, I have my Spotify playlist playing “Studying Music.” I hope it helps me retain information! But I also just use it as a way to tell my brain, “okay, the studying music is playing, now it's time to get to work.”

I don't listen to music while reading but I always play classical music during MCQs.

Amazon is great because you can get insanely large box sets of certain composers for 99 cents. I have Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, and Tchaikovsky – all 99c each. Gotta love public domain.

I had no taste for classical music before studying, I actually took it up because I have a passion for general knowledge and I want to be on Jeopardy! one day, so I was doing my own little secondary “studying” by learning about the most famous composers. I will say it definitely grows on you; I'm a huge fan now. I've since branched out to many more composers and had the pleasure of seeing Mozart's opera “The Magic Flute”. Delving into this stuff is definitely an enriching experience that I would recommend to anybody.

I often turn on hard rock and rock out when I do MCQ. It hurts my concentration some for sure but if I sit in a silent room I get bored to tears and will often find myself on facebook, sports pages, ect. so I think the positives outweigh the negatives.

I've tried classical in the past but it's about as boring to me as no music at all.

I tried listening to an all-accoustic playlist on Spotify, but I end up just singing along and not paying attention. So now I'm back to classical… haha. I can't pay attention if there are words. I wonder if I could listen to some electronica to liven things up. CPA dance party?

I'll listen to classical music or ambient music when I'm doing questions, but if I'm writing notes, then I like to have background people noises, so I'll listen to informational podcasts (like from NPR). The background voices help me concentrate, but I'm not tempted to actually listen to the conversation

i sometimes listen to classical music. For BEC, i started listening to “easy listening” music i guess you'd call it. Vitamin String Quartet – which is basically rock & pop music played as classical; and Piano Tribute Players – which is more or less the same thing, but just on the piano. Worked for BEC, so i'm sticking with it.

    Spotify is my hero.
