Anybody out there from the Cleveland/Akron area? Just moved from DC to lovely Ohio for lower cost of living. My wife’s fed job has very little change in pay. I’ll be looking for a job with a mid-size firm with no accounting related work experience. We’re also looking at houses in Bath, in Summit County.

Any thoughts from people in Ohio would be appreciated.

And if you feel the need to take cheap shots at Cleveland, go for it, I’ve heard a lot of them lately from my friends in the DC Metro area.

I used to live in Akron. Moved to TN 7 years ago. Bath is a great area to live.

Thanks for the reply. It looks really nice in Bath, but we're basically just taking a guess. The schools are rated pretty well.

Bath/Copley have good schools. The fairlawn area is in the middle – between Cleveland and Akron/Canton. I think initially you have to keep your options open on the job prospects. You have E&Y, PNC, NYCB, fifth third and sherwin in Cleveland downtown. First Energy/Good year are in Akron downtown and Smucklers/Philiips in Canton Area. Start looking at the websites or use aggregators such as indeed.com. Robert Half is a decent staffing agency.

May be you should join the NE ohio users group, if there is one. I know Akron has CMA group that meets once a month.

    Good luck.
