How do you keep your confidence and focus when someone tells you that you can’t pass?

If I had a dime for every person I know who either was a CPA or had attempted the exams who told me it was not possible to pass this exam while working 2 jobs, going to school at night for my masters, and being actively involved in my kids' activities at the same time I would be rich.

I'm here to tell you it doesn't matter what other people think or say. There's nothing that makes me cringe more than well meaning people who say “its too much if you're still in school, or working or have kids”. Its garbage. Anything you set your mind to is possible.

Same thing happened to me… they said I couldn't do it… I proved them wrong… Now that I have my license, they hate me so much, I just laugh…

Post a pic of their face on your wall & play darts 🙂 But, for real, these exams are all about stubborn determination. Just refuse to quit studying, refuse social events for awhile, and refuse to not pass. Good luck!

Agreed with all. I wish somebody would tell me that seriously. My coworkers are too nice I always get the “I know you can do it!” When the topic comes up. So happy I'm on my last one but my motivation is waning. So hard to pick up that Audit book…..

I ignore it. I've made it a point to ignore any criticism that isn't constructive.

Taking your shortcomings out on someone else to bring them down is easy, overcoming those shortcomings to get where you want to be is hard.

I am so distracted that I can't study. This is awful. I'm so frustrated.

“How do you keep your confidence and focus when someone tells you that you can't pass?”

    1. Smile

    2. Say “Bless Your Heart”

    3. Smile again

    4. Let loose the hounds of hell and tell them exactly what is going through your mind, include all of the dirty words and if necessary, make up some new ones.

    5. Smile

    6. While they are still distracted by your smile and previous tourrettes moment, punch them in the throat.

    7. Smile and walk away

    8. Focus all of that anger on MCQ's

    9. Remind yourself that person is obviously an idiot.

    10. Get mad again just thinking about the incident.

    11. Focus all of that anger on MCQ's

    12. Repeat steps 8-11 until you have a license.

Seriously, how did you manage to keep your cool after that kind of obviously stupid remark?

Smile and bask in the knowledge that one day, you will have that license and you can shove it in their face at any given opportunity 🙂

I had this happen to me; girlfriend's cousins, back when I first started studying,

I smiled and said, “We'll see,” knowing that their comment was what was going to push me during those late nights

Ah, Bless Your Heart, the phrase we Southern folk use because we're much too classy to say GFY. 😉

Thanks everyone. Time to start some studying for the evening. Wish me luck. I'm not expecting great things tonight.
