Confused by Diagnostic Report

So I am one of the Texans that FINALLY got their score at 4:44 a.m. this morning…. I took Audit on 5/28, and I received a 72.

What confuses me is my diagnostic report, a report that compares my performance to those that scored between a 75 and 80. I received the following:

    3 Comparable, 3 Stronger

    Multiple Choice = Stronger

    SIMS = Weaker

Could SIMS really have knocked me out that much? I made it a point to use the AL to the best of my advantage… As always, I continue to be stumped by this exam….. Please advise…………. 🙁

Yes, it is 40% of the test. If you made an 80 on the MCQ, that would mean about a 60 on the SIMS.

BTW, I am in San Antonio.

    Reg - Passed 82 Nov 2012 - Becker
    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker

Yes, SIMS can definitely knock you down that much. On REG last year I had a diagnostic where I scored stronger in all categories except SIMS where I was weaker and ended up with a 72.

Yikes, now I know….the painful way……! I suppose I was just trying to concentrate on the actual concepts, non-stop MCQ's, etc….. I even wrote and rewrote notes…. Arrrggggh! Well like anything else, these exams show us our weak spots, so we must learn and adjust accordingly………

    Thanks CPAztec!!!!!!

I feel like there is no way to really practice the Sims that translates into being more prepared for the random ones you may get on your exam. I think if you really know and understand the material through practicing multiple choice and taking notes, then you can get through the Sims. I really suggest looking into Jeff's NINJA methodology which many of us have used in order to pass!

    Best of luck!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

Hey there IwannaBaCPA! Thank you for responding!!!! Yes, I definitely feel the same wondering how I could have had more SIM practice, other than studying the concepts…which perhaps, I just need to do MORE…. Thank you so much for the input, I will try, try again :)))))
