I was born and raised in Southern California, went to school in LA and have been working in San Francisco for the past year and a half. I’ve been working in public account at a local firm for the past 4 months.

Professionally, I feel having Big 4 experience will do more for me than working for this firm or a mid size firm long term. My end is goal is not to make it to partner. Having just gone through one busy season, I think I can handle 4 years of public at most. What lies ahead after oublic accounting, Im trying to figure that out everyday.

Personally, I’ve never had a burning desire to live in New York unless the situation was right. I have close friends living there so Im not worried about the social aspect.

I want to know what its like working in public accounting in New York…? Anyone with big 4 experience there specifically would be even better but I’d appreciate any perspective.

    Thanks

Find a walk in freezer. Go stand inside of it for about 5 months. If you love that, the move to NY is a great idea.

Then close your windows and turn the heat up while your garbage can is filled with dirty diapers. That's what it is like in the summer. You can even try it in your car to experience the subway in summer.
