Couple of questions regarding AICPA membership

I recently joined the AICPA on 12/14/2012. I had a couple questions regarding the membership card/certificate and membership dues.

    1. I have not received my membership card or certificate. Does anyone remember how long it took for them to mail out those things to you (assuming you are a member). I emailed AICPA, but figured I’d ask here in the meantime.

    2. I paid the full $220 due + $65 new member fee when I joined. I noticed that the next dues are owed in July. Do I get any discount/pro rated dues since I paid for a full year but only have about 7 months before my renewal?

    Thanks everyone!

Hello: it took about two weeks for my certificate to arrive in the mail.

As far as the fees, I do not believe they will prorate you.

They provide a frame now too?

The wall certificate is impressive compared to my state BOA ink-jet-esque certificate (that came mailed with a bent corner and loosely protected by 2 pieces of cardboard).

@Keri – which state are you in?

@musicamor – Do you get a wall certificate too from joining Texas of CPAs society?

How long did it take from the time you submitted the application till you got your wall certificate from your state board?

I am in CA still waiting….. dying to get it heheheh

So anyone have any new ideas on this? Besides what you get FROM the AICPA, is this something that is really valuable for your resume?

It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

It's a great way to waste $235, annually. If I weren't required to have it, I would certainly not be a member.
