My CPA license application is being evaluated by the NY State Education Department, and I wanted people’s opinion on whether I should go ahead and send out my resume now with something like, “CPA-application pending with NY State” or wait until I’m officially licensed.

I worked abroad for 1 year in a completely different career and just got back to the U.S. I’d like to have a job again as soon as possible preferably by January. Thanks for any advice.

I'd wait.

Having “CPA-application pending with NY State” buried somewhere in a summary section doesn't have the same panache as:

Hampster, CPA for a header.
