    Hello everyone,

I currently have credit for two sections of the CPA exam (REG and BEC). I sat for the audit section of the exam in August of 2014. I scored a 62 on the exam. As a result I spent the next two months restudying all the material with alot more focus and emphasis on key areas. I retook the exam on November 14th 2014 and was blown away after seeing my score of a 56. I currently am using the Becker review and have scored in the 80s on all homework assignments. Given my effort and performance on the first time on sat for the Audit exam as well as my performance on my practice homework assignements I truly dont believe the score of 56 reflects my effort. I am determined to request a review of my exam score. I know that that the possibility of an error in grading is very small. Is there anyone out there that can please give me some advice in this situation. Im not sure how exactly to approach this.

    thanks

Good question – sorry about your dip in score! I have also experienced the same thing. Due to this, I recently purchased the Ninja MCQ's (all 4 sections) because I think for $200, it can only help.

To me, my Becker scores have increased, but my actual exam scores have decreased, because I've started memorizing the Becker questions, concepts and presentation of questions. Since I started taking the Ninja MCQ's, my scores have ranged from 30% (yikes) to 75%. So, you can see that there is a large discrepency.

I'm hoping this helps me and this is about all I can suggest for now. Good luck…and relax!

failed audit twice. for the third try i bought ninja audio and listened to it about 100 times to and from work (really really really worth it for AUD esp) and bought ninja mcq. ninja mcqs are also really really really worth it because it gives you new questions that you havnt memorized the answers to and it tells you your weak areas. if you can only afford 1 i would get the mcqs but they are both well worth their money

    AUD - 75
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 78
    REG - 82
    AUD: 61-67-75 (Thanks ninja aud)
    BEC: 77
    FAR: 78
    REG:69-73-70-82

    Aud-75 3x I knew i never liked you
Bec-77 1x being in the bubble is stressful
Reg-82 4x its not me its you...and no we cant be friends
    Far-78 1x easiest section

I agree with getting Ninja Audio. After my first fail, I added the audio. I would listen to it every chance I got. I even listened to it over a speaker during two weekends while hubs and I were painting the interior of a house to get it ready to rent. I would listen to a section then explain it in my own words to hubs…he was such a great sport about it 🙂 By reciting the material in my own words, I was able to master those tricky concepts and kill it the second time. Oh, and I had zero experience in auditing other than my one undergraduate course. It's definitely worth every penny!

Thanks for your responses. I will definitely look into the Ninja MCQ's. However I still believe that there could be an error in scoring my exam. I felt very confident on the multipe choice questions the second time around and cannot see how I could possibly score ten percent lower the second time I take the audit exam. I know that the possibility of the AICPA making an error in scoring exams is very small but I have done some research and the AICPA has in fact graded exams in the past incorrectly. Should I ask for a review?

I hate to be this Guy, but the odds of them mistaking even one question are extremely high and unheard of. Therefore, I would wager all three of my passing scores, and all of warren buffet's money that if they reviewed your exam your score would not increase 19 points. I understand you probably feel like it's a mistake since you felt so good about the exam, but auditing is one of those tricky tricky exams. One word can change the answer completely. So maybe some of the minute details got lost in your answers. I'm sorry about your score, and I'm sure you'll improve greatly next time. If you do request a review, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

    BEC - 76 7/22/14
    AUD - 84 8/30/14
    REG - 75 10/16/14
    FAR - 87 11/24/14

Sorry but put your effort into studying for a retake. You'll find more often than not that people's perception of how they THINK they did and what their scores say have a complete disconnect. There is absolutely no chance that a review will result in your score being changed.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

You said you felt confident about the MCQs, but don't forget that the sims are also a large part of your final score. Many people report struggling with the AUD sims.

Given that the second score is much in line with the first score, it is likely correct, and you probably memorized the Becker answers and that's why your practice scores were so high.

Your 18 month clock is ticking. Your time and money would be better spent getting some fresh review materials and buckling down for a retake.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I also faced the same situation. Sat for AUD in August 2014 and failed with 65. Then I added Ninja MCQs with wiley book (because I was sort of memorizing the wiley answers) and sat for a retake in Oct 2014 and got 84. What I did differently the second time was I went through the book, made small notes of important topics of what I need to remember and what is the most important thing to remember and might appear in exam. Then I did all the wiley book MCQs and Sim, went through the explanation of each wrong answer. I used Ninja MCQs at the very end when I was thorough with all the topics. I also used cpareviewforfree just to get a variety of questions. I think doing lot of MCQs and Sims from various sources is the key to pass.

    REG 78
    BEC 75
    AUD 84
    FAR 82
