Check the state accountancy boards for accurate information on your eligibility in terms of education and experience.

    Hi Mayo

Thanks for the reply. I did not know whether they count for experience. i know that they simply check your degree certificates to get eligible for CPA. so i am little bit worried if i will be eligible for doing CPA or not. BCz i have paid full fees to Morgan for CPA.

    Please advice

You can also visit Virginia Board Of Accountacy website http://www.boa.virginia.gov/. They have a self evaluation sheet that might want to take a look at.

OP, I'm having a hard time understanding your original post. Let me know if I got this right:

    -You come from India

-You earned a Masters of Commerce in India

-You are currently taking a CPA Review through Morgan International and Becker??? (I'm confused on this)…

If you've already submitted your education for an evaluation from the board then there's not much else to do other than wait to see what they say.

I had a classmate of mine who did a Bachelor's in Commerce and got his Master's in Finance here and qualified for the exam..different situation, but that's the only one I can draw from.

The education requirements for those states should be on the website. DO a little bit of digging and you'll probably find what you're looking for.

    Shivangi…

At this point you are trying to shoot in the dark…

    1. Which state are you planning to work in and settle in after you finish your cpa? It does matter.

    2. Are you planning to just take the exam here? and go back to india?

Let me know, so i can help you further.

I don't think people are not trying to be helpful, but I don't think anyone here can answer your question with any sort of certainty. Your transcripts will need to be evaluated and you will get a result based on that. Anyone here would be guessing at best.

It seems to me you will need to check with Canada about their requirements if that is where you will be practicing. Each of the US states have their own set of requirements to be a licensed CPA and you are only licensed to practice within that state. You don't have to take the CPA exam for each state, but you do have to meet certain requirements to be licensed and practice accounting in another state.

    Hi Shivanji

If u still haven't had got ur evaluation done then I would advise u to go for Montana and new Hampshire. I think u might qualify for both. don't go for colarado as they require 3 credit hours in GAAS in addition to 120 credit hours. Montana doesn't have any requirement for writing the exam except they require 24 credits in accounting and 24 in business subjects. Montana is a 2 tier state, u can either opt for certificate or go for license as well. For certificate they require 150 credit hours and for license 150 + work experience. NH at this point in time requires 120 credit hours including 12 in accounting and the same in business related subjects.
