Hi guys, I hope you guys had a great weekend and in best health. I am still saving up for the CPA exam and is there any sort of financial assistance when it comes to the review materials since I am not employed somewhere where they will pay the exam.

    Thank you,

    John Chua

Becker has financing and If I am not mistaken I think Wiley and Roger may also. You can check their websites.

I know Becker has this thing called 0% FInancing, where you make periodic payments and don't have to pay any interest fees. I personally had to use my own money($2800) to pay for everything. However, I think if you have a good accounting knowledge, then you should consider finding cheaper alternatives than Becker. Becker is definitely the best prep course hands down. But if you can find a way to buy used Becker books and compound that with buying the Wiley Test Banks which are just 1000-1500MC for each section and each one is only like 90 bucks. You can end up paying only around $1200.

But keep in mind that getting your CPA Is like a raise for the rest of your life. That 1200 is like nothing after you pass the exams. Good luck!

LOL, CPA exam and affordability are two incompatible terms, IMO!

Well, for me I settled the affordable dilema. If I get a cheap review course, I will eventually spend extra on add-ons and cram courses. If I spend on an expensive course, I better use it or that's wasted money. We have to pay for the exam fees. I don't know of any stipend or grants to get for exam fees so….. Unfortunately there is no cheap way to become a cpa. I might have to take on extra tax work to pay my the next two parts :-/

provided I pass the first two…Sorry I haven't found a cheap way to become a cpa

    It begins with a 75

From my experience, it is better to go for a good review course than to go for a cheap course and compromise on quality. Finally, you will end up spending more on exam fees and opportunity cost…….and time. Get a good review course, prepare well give exam once and live happily forever…..looks like a fairy tale but it has happened !

    AUD: 71(Nov 2010),74(Jul 2012),74(Oct 2012),75(Jan 2013)- Thanks God, without you i couldnt have done this. I'M DONE !!!

The comment about Becker being the best is debatable, but what matters is your learning style. If you are good at reading on your own then the cheapest way to study would be to buy the Wiley books (may find used for sale) which are great. Then supplement those with the Wiley test bank. That in my opinion, would be the absolute cheapest way to prepare very well for these exams. I know there are a few people on this site that have done very well on the exams just using wiley books and test bank. Good luck!

If you are looking for a cost effective and quality set of review materials, then I suggest picking up the Wiley Text off of Amazon for $35 and picking up the 10 point combo offered by this site for $197! The Wiley text is VERY detailed but if you are disciplined enough to take it all in than it's a substantial cost savings! The Ninja notes and audio are very concise and after reading a wordy chapter in Wiley, the Ninja notes/audio break things down in english and are easy to digest. The online test bank included in the package is a huge asset to your study plan, I could not imagine prepping without it!!! The Ninja app is easy to use and very handy if you have a smart phone or ipad, and I think the app is set up very well.

All in all, for the 10 point combo per section at $197 plus a $35 Wiley Text for in depth review will get you covered for less than $250 per section for materials. I have a friend who has passed 3 of 4 parts on the first shot by using these materials only, so it can work if you have the discipline!

    Good Luck!!!!!! 🙂
