T-minus 32 days ;)
If I finish an exam at 5:30PM on Saturday, 01/19, when will the AICPA get it for score release purposes?
@FTZ you will most likely be in the first wave.
Is it February 5th yet!? :)
I'm counting down until the 4th. 28 days!!
Also in Wave 1 - took a FAR retake this past Friday. Fingers crossed!!
Took REG round 2 on Saturday. Hopefully Feb 5th will be a historic day for me!!
A small part of me wants to be that annoying person who counts down all of the days to score release.....
I am extremely nervous about this release :/ I had a ton of personal family issues going on while trying to study for BEC and just didn't devote the time and energy I should have to the exam. I'm hoping I can squeak by with a 75!!
i hate this thread ..:-''''''''''(
@Nam, looks like you have one hell of a date for Valentine's day.
and i am super scared -- :-( :-(
Good luck nimmie with you last exam - soon to be a cpa ...:D
Slow day at work.
They say 2/5 release, and it's usually the day before; 2/4 is my half-birthday.
Pretty please CPA gods...how about a passing score on FAR for my half-birthday!!!
already sick to stomach thinking about the possibility of taking BEC again...........
@k917: OMG, when I was a kid, my grandma would always give my brother and I a present for our half-birthday and my friends thought I was crazy! You are the first person in years I've heard talk about a half-birthday. That's awesome, I hope you get your half-birthday wish!!
@Keely Thanks! I'm a little old for being excited about half-birthdays, but for some reason I always enjoy the thought of it being my half-birthday. My mom would make us a special breakfast for our half-birthdays when we were young. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who pays attention to it!!
The timeline says February 5th but if we count 11 business day after day 20, it is February 4th which means release would be Friday, February 1st????
the 21st is a monday holiday. it is unclear whether or not the AICPA offices are open that day. Based off of the AICPA's schedule I would assume they are closed, so 11 business days is the 5th. We should expect the release to begin the 4th.
There are 3 people on my audit team, including me, who will receive FAR scores on the same day. Hope it's a lucky day for the team!!
Preparing for round two of FAR 2/22/13 any suggestions on how to preparation for second time around:
FAR - Failed 11/2012
BEC - Completed 8/2012
REG - Completed 2/2012
Aud - Completed 5/2012
Study everything again. My first attempt and my second attempt were totally different tests. Things that I had a lot of the first time, I had not much the second time, and vice versa.
I passed the CPA exam in 2008, BEC 91, AUD 94, REG 93, FAR 89. Two days ago I found out that I also passed the November 2012 CFP exam. There isn't a board like this for the CFP exam so I thought I would post here. The exam is 10 hours and I am as excited about passing it I was the CPA exam. I think the information is invaluable and I would definitely recommend anyone interested in tax and financial planning to consider pursuing the CFP certification.
3 weeks to go....arg, this is torture
I agree. Every time I think about it, and how long we have to wait, I get this tight feeling in my chest and my stomach turns over! I can't imagine having to study for FAR again! I feel my prep for Audit is going well, but there are definitely nights where it is hard to concentrate on Audit when FAR is still looming over me, like a ghost or something.
This is going to be painful three weeks. I would have refused to take another exam at the beginning of the window, except that my NTS expired on the day I took the test, so I couldn't wait any longer.
I hear ya. At least my busy season is starting to rev up so I will be so buried in work that I will barely be able to focus on my score coming. Please let these next 3 weeks go quickly and end painlessly
Ugh, 3 weeks. Seems so long!!!
WHYYYY is it taking so long to score the exams!!! I can't stand this wait, especially to find out my last exam score!
20 days.... 0=-)
LOVE IT! Cant wait! Thanks nimmle for the countdown! haha!
NO problem! It gives me something to do. I think I need to start making them more interesting
I will give myself the rest of the day to fret over the AUD exam I sat for this morning.
Then it's on to FAR studies tomorrow.
I really need to get a pass to keep me going. I may not even check my Score on the 5th, for fear of another fail getting me down.
So since I waiting for my last exam score do I keep studying in the meantime, just in case? Or wait to find out and then start again? I just am afraid of forgetting stuff.
Advice needed (not that I might not change my mind later anyways from severe anticipation)
Should I look at my scores while I'm at the office working late busy season hours? Or wait till I get home?
For fear of getting bad news and possibly affecting my psyche and ability to be productive at work.
I checked before at work in November when I failed aud and it ruined my day... But I'm kit sure is be able to also not check if I know it's there...
What should I do? What would you do?
I will be checking during the work day. If anything I'm hoping I pass and get a team celebratory lunch/dinner on the firm's dime. Or if I fail maybe a team sympathy lunch/dinner on the firm's dime.
But at least we are Benjamin Buttoning the crap out of these days til score release.
19 days y'all!!
I, just as everyone else, am anxiously waiting to receive my score for FAR. I have a couple questions not really about score release, but I'm sure someone here will know. I'm in a NASBA state and when I log into my account it still says "App in Progress" for FAR. When I search for my score (obviously knowing it won't be there until at least the 4th) it just says FAR with no attendance date. Also, at the top of the page next to the jurisdiction and my name now says "Re-examination" instead of first time candidate. Is this normal? Should it show that my test was attended? I'm probably just being paranoid, but I'm curious.
DavidB1990 - I'm definitely in a similar situation. I'm taking AUD the same day as we're supposed to get scores. I'm planning on holding off on looking until I get out of AUD. I feel like I'll be too happy if I pass or too let down if I fail to focus on the exam. If I were you I'd try to wait if you're worried about it. Especially if you're busy, it might be a little easier to forget about for a few hours.
@ nimmle02, your countdown gave me an idea. I downloaded a countdown app for my phone and put in three dates- this current score release (FAR), my last exam (AUD), and the day I should hopefully get my final score and be done! While I hate seeing the large number in the "days" column, at least it makes me feel better seeing that time slowly but surely count down.
@DavidB1990, everyone is different, but I personally plan on looking up my FAR score as soon as I possibly can, even though it will be released less than a week before my Audit exam. I feel a passing score will really give me that last push I need to complete my audit review. A failing score would hurt, but I don't think it would be as bad as the anticipation of waiting. I know my productivity would fall straight off the cliff waiting for the end of the workday to go home and check my score. So I'm planning on taking the gamble and checking if I'm at work, but that's just me.
@ChelleChelle, since BEC is a smaller amount of material, and my understanding is you'll have to wait until the next test window anyway if you don't pass, so I think you'd gain more by taking a little time off. Based on the fact that you passed the other three, (and I'm betting you are even more prepared this time around), I'll bet it won't be necessary. Maybe you could do some light flashcarding and a review of your notes, but take some time to relax!
@ soxfan866, I can only give you my guess, since I'm in IL (non-NASBA). When did you take your test? I know IL takes a few days to receive and post a notice that I attended. Depending on when you took your exam it might just need a few days. I don't know why the "Re-examination" status is popping up, but I doubt it means anything of significance. I can't see how they would have your score already- we still have 4 more days of testing before all of the tests released in this first part of the window are even completed.
@soxfan866 Not to scare you, but I'd check-in with someone at NASBA just in case. Since that was your first test, maybe that's why it still says "App in Progress", but I find it strange that it would still say that after you've already been able to sit for an exam. However my REG application from July still says Submitted (instead of completed) and I got my passing score for that in August. Never hurts to check. You can send an email to email@example.com, just be sure to put your state and name in the subject line.
I only suggest checking with them because I've never seen my account say "App in Progress" (I also first applied before the CPAES system existed). I wouldn't be worried that it says "Re-examination", mine says that too, and once you've taken your first test you not actually a first-time candidate anymore.
@badger_2012 - thanks for your advice. I am just so nervous about wasting time or losing my focused spirit. I will definitely wait until I get my score before I start up again. What to do with all this "free" time? Best of of luck to everyone!!!
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm not too worried about it, more curious if mine was the same as other people (apparently not). I took my test on 1/10. If nothing changes by Monday or Tuesday I'll get in touch with NASBA.
The same thing happened for me when i sat for my first test. My state i am guessing does not update anything until my score gets released. When i check my scores before the score is release i have no attendance date either, so dont worry. Also when i log on to NASBA's application i am also stated as re-examination and to tell you the truth i have no idea why that is but it has bee like that since i first started taking the tests. My state is MN so idk if that helps you or not. But i am/ have experienced similar things.
I would hang on to the confirmation of attendance you received when you left prometric just incase something does happen however. But i dont think anything will
More general question now that i looked at my NASBA closer, in the section that has my applications for each of my tests, why does my FAR test say "Applied" in the status box when the rest of them say "submitted" as the status of my application for each of my tests?
I just checked my status on CPAES Oasis and this was the message updated today "All or some sections of your Notice to Schedule (NTS) have been attended but scores have not been received." Still the same stuff everywhere else though. Oh well, as long as I get my score I could care less. Apparently the NASBA website is just not updated/weird.
Trying not to think about it but its so hard not to!
@davidb - I am NOT checking my score at work. I realized all of my passing scores were checked at home and at home I shall check. My last score was checked at work and I FAILED!! I cant afford to fail this time so I will wait until I get home.
Time is definitely going by much quicker while I am working like mad with busy season awesomeness. My inability to get up ever and the constant presence of food has deemed the following link to be appropriate. Just sub "Busy Season" for "Holiday Season," but both are equally true.
18 days to go
Anxiously awaiting BEC release on 2/5. Is there any chance it comes out earlier? I am in Mass btw.
@SeePeeAyy - No earlier than 2/4. Typically scores for NASBA states are out the day before AICPA says scores will be released. They say 2/5 so we're predicting NASBA states see them 2/4.
Don't worry. Be happy!
17 more days!!
Nimmle and I must have the same travel agent, our total points are nearly the same, we both got 72s on AUD and retook on 1/3...let's pass together and get this over with!
If it makes anybody feel better, today is the final day of testing for Wave #1 of Q1 score release cycle, as Prometric doesn't give exams on Sundays. Soon all of the exams in this wave will be in the AICPA's Examination Team's hands, where they will do whatever scoring voodoo they do.
This scoring stuff is so odd. I took FAR on January 5th, and will be waiting until February 5th. I take Audit on February 11 and get the score a mere two weeks later- February 25. Don't know why they need as long as they do- if they can get an exam taken right before a cutoff all graded and checked in 6 business days, why do they need over a month for those taken in the first few days of a window?
As annoying as it is, at least it's better than the old system. Very thankful for that.
