T-minus 32 days ;)
If I finish an exam at 5:30PM on Saturday, 01/19, when will the AICPA get it for score release purposes?
@FTZ you will most likely be in the first wave.
Is it February 5th yet!? :)
I'm counting down until the 4th. 28 days!!
Also in Wave 1 - took a FAR retake this past Friday. Fingers crossed!!
Took REG round 2 on Saturday. Hopefully Feb 5th will be a historic day for me!!
A small part of me wants to be that annoying person who counts down all of the days to score release.....
I am extremely nervous about this release :/ I had a ton of personal family issues going on while trying to study for BEC and just didn't devote the time and energy I should have to the exam. I'm hoping I can squeak by with a 75!!
i hate this thread ..:-''''''''''(
@Nam, looks like you have one hell of a date for Valentine's day.
and i am super scared -- :-( :-(
Good luck nimmie with you last exam - soon to be a cpa ...:D
Slow day at work.
They say 2/5 release, and it's usually the day before; 2/4 is my half-birthday.
Pretty please CPA gods...how about a passing score on FAR for my half-birthday!!!
already sick to stomach thinking about the possibility of taking BEC again...........
@k917: OMG, when I was a kid, my grandma would always give my brother and I a present for our half-birthday and my friends thought I was crazy! You are the first person in years I've heard talk about a half-birthday. That's awesome, I hope you get your half-birthday wish!!
@Keely Thanks! I'm a little old for being excited about half-birthdays, but for some reason I always enjoy the thought of it being my half-birthday. My mom would make us a special breakfast for our half-birthdays when we were young. I'm glad I'm not the only one out there who pays attention to it!!
The timeline says February 5th but if we count 11 business day after day 20, it is February 4th which means release would be Friday, February 1st????
the 21st is a monday holiday. it is unclear whether or not the AICPA offices are open that day. Based off of the AICPA's schedule I would assume they are closed, so 11 business days is the 5th. We should expect the release to begin the 4th.
There are 3 people on my audit team, including me, who will receive FAR scores on the same day. Hope it's a lucky day for the team!!
Preparing for round two of FAR 2/22/13 any suggestions on how to preparation for second time around:
FAR - Failed 11/2012
BEC - Completed 8/2012
REG - Completed 2/2012
Aud - Completed 5/2012
Study everything again. My first attempt and my second attempt were totally different tests. Things that I had a lot of the first time, I had not much the second time, and vice versa.
I passed the CPA exam in 2008, BEC 91, AUD 94, REG 93, FAR 89. Two days ago I found out that I also passed the November 2012 CFP exam. There isn't a board like this for the CFP exam so I thought I would post here. The exam is 10 hours and I am as excited about passing it I was the CPA exam. I think the information is invaluable and I would definitely recommend anyone interested in tax and financial planning to consider pursuing the CFP certification.
3 weeks to go....arg, this is torture
I agree. Every time I think about it, and how long we have to wait, I get this tight feeling in my chest and my stomach turns over! I can't imagine having to study for FAR again! I feel my prep for Audit is going well, but there are definitely nights where it is hard to concentrate on Audit when FAR is still looming over me, like a ghost or something.
This is going to be painful three weeks. I would have refused to take another exam at the beginning of the window, except that my NTS expired on the day I took the test, so I couldn't wait any longer.
I hear ya. At least my busy season is starting to rev up so I will be so buried in work that I will barely be able to focus on my score coming. Please let these next 3 weeks go quickly and end painlessly
Ugh, 3 weeks. Seems so long!!!
WHYYYY is it taking so long to score the exams!!! I can't stand this wait, especially to find out my last exam score!
20 days.... 0=-)
LOVE IT! Cant wait! Thanks nimmle for the countdown! haha!
NO problem! It gives me something to do. I think I need to start making them more interesting
I will give myself the rest of the day to fret over the AUD exam I sat for this morning.
Then it's on to FAR studies tomorrow.
I really need to get a pass to keep me going. I may not even check my Score on the 5th, for fear of another fail getting me down.
So since I waiting for my last exam score do I keep studying in the meantime, just in case? Or wait to find out and then start again? I just am afraid of forgetting stuff.
Advice needed (not that I might not change my mind later anyways from severe anticipation)
Should I look at my scores while I'm at the office working late busy season hours? Or wait till I get home?
For fear of getting bad news and possibly affecting my psyche and ability to be productive at work.
I checked before at work in November when I failed aud and it ruined my day... But I'm kit sure is be able to also not check if I know it's there...
What should I do? What would you do?
I will be checking during the work day. If anything I'm hoping I pass and get a team celebratory lunch/dinner on the firm's dime. Or if I fail maybe a team sympathy lunch/dinner on the firm's dime.
But at least we are Benjamin Buttoning the crap out of these days til score release.
19 days y'all!!
I, just as everyone else, am anxiously waiting to receive my score for FAR. I have a couple questions not really about score release, but I'm sure someone here will know. I'm in a NASBA state and when I log into my account it still says "App in Progress" for FAR. When I search for my score (obviously knowing it won't be there until at least the 4th) it just says FAR with no attendance date. Also, at the top of the page next to the jurisdiction and my name now says "Re-examination" instead of first time candidate. Is this normal? Should it show that my test was attended? I'm probably just being paranoid, but I'm curious.
DavidB1990 - I'm definitely in a similar situation. I'm taking AUD the same day as we're supposed to get scores. I'm planning on holding off on looking until I get out of AUD. I feel like I'll be too happy if I pass or too let down if I fail to focus on the exam. If I were you I'd try to wait if you're worried about it. Especially if you're busy, it might be a little easier to forget about for a few hours.
@ nimmle02, your countdown gave me an idea. I downloaded a countdown app for my phone and put in three dates- this current score release (FAR), my last exam (AUD), and the day I should hopefully get my final score and be done! While I hate seeing the large number in the "days" column, at least it makes me feel better seeing that time slowly but surely count down.
@DavidB1990, everyone is different, but I personally plan on looking up my FAR score as soon as I possibly can, even though it will be released less than a week before my Audit exam. I feel a passing score will really give me that last push I need to complete my audit review. A failing score would hurt, but I don't think it would be as bad as the anticipation of waiting. I know my productivity would fall straight off the cliff waiting for the end of the workday to go home and check my score. So I'm planning on taking the gamble and checking if I'm at work, but that's just me.
@ChelleChelle, since BEC is a smaller amount of material, and my understanding is you'll have to wait until the next test window anyway if you don't pass, so I think you'd gain more by taking a little time off. Based on the fact that you passed the other three, (and I'm betting you are even more prepared this time around), I'll bet it won't be necessary. Maybe you could do some light flashcarding and a review of your notes, but take some time to relax!
@ soxfan866, I can only give you my guess, since I'm in IL (non-NASBA). When did you take your test? I know IL takes a few days to receive and post a notice that I attended. Depending on when you took your exam it might just need a few days. I don't know why the "Re-examination" status is popping up, but I doubt it means anything of significance. I can't see how they would have your score already- we still have 4 more days of testing before all of the tests released in this first part of the window are even completed.
@soxfan866 Not to scare you, but I'd check-in with someone at NASBA just in case. Since that was your first test, maybe that's why it still says "App in Progress", but I find it strange that it would still say that after you've already been able to sit for an exam. However my REG application from July still says Submitted (instead of completed) and I got my passing score for that in August. Never hurts to check. You can send an email to email@example.com, just be sure to put your state and name in the subject line.
I only suggest checking with them because I've never seen my account say "App in Progress" (I also first applied before the CPAES system existed). I wouldn't be worried that it says "Re-examination", mine says that too, and once you've taken your first test you not actually a first-time candidate anymore.
@badger_2012 - thanks for your advice. I am just so nervous about wasting time or losing my focused spirit. I will definitely wait until I get my score before I start up again. What to do with all this "free" time? Best of of luck to everyone!!!
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm not too worried about it, more curious if mine was the same as other people (apparently not). I took my test on 1/10. If nothing changes by Monday or Tuesday I'll get in touch with NASBA.
The same thing happened for me when i sat for my first test. My state i am guessing does not update anything until my score gets released. When i check my scores before the score is release i have no attendance date either, so dont worry. Also when i log on to NASBA's application i am also stated as re-examination and to tell you the truth i have no idea why that is but it has bee like that since i first started taking the tests. My state is MN so idk if that helps you or not. But i am/ have experienced similar things.
I would hang on to the confirmation of attendance you received when you left prometric just incase something does happen however. But i dont think anything will
More general question now that i looked at my NASBA closer, in the section that has my applications for each of my tests, why does my FAR test say "Applied" in the status box when the rest of them say "submitted" as the status of my application for each of my tests?
I just checked my status on CPAES Oasis and this was the message updated today "All or some sections of your Notice to Schedule (NTS) have been attended but scores have not been received." Still the same stuff everywhere else though. Oh well, as long as I get my score I could care less. Apparently the NASBA website is just not updated/weird.
Trying not to think about it but its so hard not to!
@davidb - I am NOT checking my score at work. I realized all of my passing scores were checked at home and at home I shall check. My last score was checked at work and I FAILED!! I cant afford to fail this time so I will wait until I get home.
Time is definitely going by much quicker while I am working like mad with busy season awesomeness. My inability to get up ever and the constant presence of food has deemed the following link to be appropriate. Just sub "Busy Season" for "Holiday Season," but both are equally true.
18 days to go
Anxiously awaiting BEC release on 2/5. Is there any chance it comes out earlier? I am in Mass btw.
@SeePeeAyy - No earlier than 2/4. Typically scores for NASBA states are out the day before AICPA says scores will be released. They say 2/5 so we're predicting NASBA states see them 2/4.
Don't worry. Be happy!
17 more days!!
Nimmle and I must have the same travel agent, our total points are nearly the same, we both got 72s on AUD and retook on 1/3...let's pass together and get this over with!
If it makes anybody feel better, today is the final day of testing for Wave #1 of Q1 score release cycle, as Prometric doesn't give exams on Sundays. Soon all of the exams in this wave will be in the AICPA's Examination Team's hands, where they will do whatever scoring voodoo they do.
This scoring stuff is so odd. I took FAR on January 5th, and will be waiting until February 5th. I take Audit on February 11 and get the score a mere two weeks later- February 25. Don't know why they need as long as they do- if they can get an exam taken right before a cutoff all graded and checked in 6 business days, why do they need over a month for those taken in the first few days of a window?
As annoying as it is, at least it's better than the old system. Very thankful for that.
@badger "whatever scoring voodoo they do". LOL. I just had Salt N Peppa flashbacks. Although, most of the testers here are probably too young to relate, ha! Shoop!
@MCLKT you just took AUD right? I took it today too...what did you think about the SIMs without revealing too much. The research question was a beast...
Hey will.i.am. This was my second go with AUD so I feel pretty good (knock on wood). I agree about the research. On Wiley research practice I scored 100% every time. No kidding. I felt like that would be the highlight of the exam for me. On test day, I searched for about 5-7 min. and moved on to the others. When I came back to it, I'm sure I found the correct answer. As far as the other SIMS, I just don't know. I was able to utilize the AL for some answers, so hopefully I will get good results.
You don't have a signature set up, so I have no clue where you are in your CPA journey. I hope we both get to celebrate the AUD results in a couple weeks.
Sorry guys, I've been neglecting my duties. Busy season starts tomorrow so I've been resting up!! 15 days :)
So is February 4 the earliest we can get the scores? I just took REG yesterday and I have no idea how it went! I have very mixed feelings about it and I am dying to find out my score! I am gonna go now and pray for the next 2 weeks... Good luck to all of us!
Slowly but surely getting there...
For once, I am actually excited when the weekend is over, because that means we're all getting closer to our ultimate goal! Stay strong everybody and good luck- for both those who are waiting for their last score, and those of us who are studying for another section during this waiting period!
I took FAR yesterday at 4pm EST. Praying I'll get my score 2/4 like a good little NASBA state...
What do you mean Prometric doesn't test on Sunday? As in, they're not going to submit the *passing* score I earned yesterday during my test until sometime this week? Meaning I have to wait until the second release? Don't do this to me... I intentionally took it within the 1-20 day window!!
It could go either way for you Lisa Marie. But the 1-20 day window is not based on the day you take the exam, rather it's the day AICPA receives your exam. :( I hope you get it on the 4th. Good Luck.
PS I think Badger didn't realize some Prometric sites are open on Sundays and allow testing.
Sorry if I unintentionally frightened you- if you took the test on the 20th then you could get the score in the first wave. I had never heard of a Prometric center open on Sunday, so I didn't think that anyone would be testing that day. Apparently I was mistaken!
The AICPA says they receive the vast majority of their scores the day of testing- so hopefully that is your case. As MCLKT pointed out, the day that matters is when the AICPA gets your score.
@lisamarie...hate to break it to you but I took BEC on 10/20 and was hoping to get my score during wave 1 release but that wasn't the case. Nothing worst than thinking you are going to get your scores in the first wave but then having to wait until the second wave. HOWEVER, it may be different for FAR since there is no WC. Also, there were others that received their scores even when they took it on the 20th day. Weird and crazy. Anyway, Good luck! I hope you get your score with all of the wave 1 crew!
Having a little dilemma that hoping someone can help me out with. My FAR expires 8/31/2013 so I been diligently studying my little butt off. I've failed AUD twice and just retook AUD this 1/19/2013. I'm not too confident that I will pass... Mostly because I believe I've done so poorly on the simulations. Scores come out 2/4/2013 which is about two weeks. Wondering if I should spend that time studying for other sections, or wait until the score is released. If I have failed...I would like to re-attempt AUD. What to do...what to do...???
@will.i.am: If I were you, I would keep refreshing yourself with AUD. There is only two weeks until score release, so it can't hurt to keep going over AUD just in case you need to retake it. Two weeks isn't enough time to start another section and get invested in it before finding out about AUD. If you had to wait a month or longer, I'd say go ahead and move on to another section. But I think your best bet, if you want to retake AUD next on the off chance you didn't pass, is to keep the material fresh in your mind and then see what happens when scores are released. Good luck!
@will.i.am, honestly I would start studying for your next section If it is possible to take it at the end of this window. If you fail AUD you can't take it again until April, so you'll have at least a month after this window to review it. No use wasting valuable time if you can use it.
Oh yeah....13 days yo!!
LOVE your countdown posts.Wishing you the best in 13 days!!
I added a countdown widget to my phone just for waiting for score release. Ugh, c'mon 2/4!!!
Same to you @littlenumberrobot!!
you too @k917 :)
@nimmle02 you can't sit for the same exam in the same window again?
What did you think about AUD, particularly the simulations?
@will.i.am, yes, you can only take one particular section once per window. AUD was interesting as per usual. This time at least the mcqs kept getting more difficult as I progressed through the testlets. The SIMs are always a crap shoot and I'm pretty sure that's where I keep getting screwed. The research SIM was easy, and maybe one or two others but I feel like a number of other ones I had to guess...ALOT. Too much for my own comfort. Just crossing fingers at this point.
But yeah, if you think you can be ready for your next section by the end of this window I would give it a shot. You'll be able to take AUD again (if you need to) in the next window with plenty of time in between for a review.
If I don't get my score in the first wave, there will be a problem. Gaaaaaaa
@nimmle02 Thanks! You too!!
It's a busy day in the Audithood
Waiting on the last section is BRUTAL!
It's freezing...but there are only 11 more daysssssss
Freezing here too! Ugh...12 days...seems so long!
Had to join the tumblr posting - so true:
Getting closer folks!
To quote one of my favorite movies (Blades of Glory):
"Chazz, we've got to take you to the hospital!"
"What, and miss the smell of sweet gold? Not on your life!"
Here's hoping all of us will smell the sweet success of a 75! (And stay out of the hospital!)
@nimmle02 Thanks for the information about only taking one section per testing window. Glad to know that, but annoyed because I took BEC in the first score release window to be able to take again by the end of February. I lose FAR end of April and was hoping for 2 more tries on BEC. Well if I don't pass it this try, then I definitely have plenty of time to get BEC fully down. lol These exams are going to be the end of me. lol
I am curious what the people who took BEC in the first 20 day test window thought of it? Personally, mine was extremely hard with abstract questions and one dealing with information that wasn't in my Becker book. Now the waiting game, it's so much worse waiting the last test. The only thing keeping me going is continuing to look over BEC to get it down even more just in case.
Nothing better than finally answering the question "how many days until you find out your score?" by holding up my hands and saying "this many!"
the big 10 baby!
(a.k.a. my night last night)
Has anyone else heard about early score releases? A student in my Becker Reg class took Audit on 1/3 and has already received his score by checking online. I thought scores weren't released until Feb? Not a troll post, this guy says he received his score (and doesn't seem like the type to lie about it). Maybe a glitch?
"There are no scores to display for this section"....nope, seems highly improbable.
Early scores? No way!
"There are no scores to display for this section"
I took REG on January 2nd (first day of the testing window, right?) and don't have my score.
Granted, I'm in Illinois... so apparently I wouldn't get my score until a day or two after NABSA states.
I still think it's unlikely. But on another note, I will never test on Day 1 of a testing window again. I've already been waiting for more than 3 weeks...
10 days left!
@GreenMonkey I'm pretty much in the same boat as you - took FAR 1/4. Ditto on the never testing that early in the window again!!
Although I am taking AUD Saturday and the window just started Monday, oops. 4-week wait for that one too :-(
Yeah, who knows? I took Audit on 1/11, fingers crossed!
@Goods - Honestly, after the notices of incorrect scores of years past, how can anyone doubt this guy? Nothing regarding scores/score releases will surprise me moving forward.
Agreed. The guy in my class seems pretty legit so I believe him.
Can't stop thinking that this may be it...BEC 19/1/2013 Please dear God
FAR 80/ AUD 80/ REG 76
Experience: 3+ years Audit
Wave 2 check in... Let the countdown begin. This is going to be a long month. At least I have AUD to keep me busy!
I'd be shocked if something was released early. I'd love it if it were true, but I'll be skeptical until I log in and see a score. Jeff, do you mean we should treat early score release as a non-current asset? As in don't expect it to happen this year? :)
I saw some of you are also from Illinois- hopefully ILBOE is quick this time. They just updated their website saying score release would be around the 6th or 7th. My guess (and sincere hope) is that someone wasn't careful when looking at the timeline- they've always at least been on time with the schedule in my experience (with the obvious Hurricane Sandy exception- but they still managed to release ahead of the revised target date).
Well now I'm part of the waiting crew for both Wave 1 and 2!! Ugh, waiting sucks. Wave 1 - FAR, Wave 2 - AUD. Good luck everyone!
So, I am wondering if the days in testing windows are business days or just calendar days? I took FAR today (1/26/13), and it falls in the first 20 business days of January. I think waiting for the scores is the worst part of this whole process. I took a whole week off from work to study for this exam...
How does everyone include their score information on their each post? Is it done automatically somehow?
REG 10/02/12 - 79
AUD 10/31/12 - 93
BEC 11/30/12 - 76 - THANK YOU WHOEVER IS UPSTAIRS FOR THIS ONE, BECAUSE I DIDN'T DO ANY OF THE SIMULATIONS!!!
FAR 1/26/13 ----waiting for the score till Feb 25??? impatiently...
k917 - I'm right with you there. FAR for wave 1 and AUD for wave 2. At least we'll get one soon to hold us over!
Bertsetseg - It's calendar days. And you can set up a signature by clicking on your username at the top of the page after "Welcome...".
Waiting 30 days for AUD is going to kill me! I hate ILBOA...does anyone else share my affection or lack thereof for the Illinois Board of Examiners?
Soxfan866 - Thank you! :-)
Jambueh - I share your feelings about waiting for 30 days, since if passed this will be the last exam for me too. Though I am not in Illinois I think I can share your feelings about Examiners.
k917 and soxfan866, looks like we've got a little club going, as I am also FAR Wave #1 and AUD Wave #2. :)
jambueh, yeah, I agree ILBOA is a little slow, and I wish they would outsource to NASBA, but at most they should only be responsible for a day or so of your 30 day wait. The AICPA is the slow point- ILBOA usually is only one step slower than NASBA. I feel your pain though.
Seems like some people already have taken their ethics exam before passing the 4 exams. How do you do that?
@Bert - ummm, you didn't do any of the SIMS for BEC? Tell me more.
