Jeff, can we add pictures to our avatar? Thanks!
Hey starla,
My blog and forum use gravatars...
Jeff
Got it! Something fun to do while waiting for scores....
Getting anxious for scores!!! Especially since BEC isn't even out yet :-\
Me too!!!
So here I am again, anxious for another exam grade. I took my exam at the last possible chance last window, I think it was on the 31st at like 4:30pm or something. Either way, as I said then, I do not think I passed. Still, there is hope! I mean, I guess you never know whats graded on the exam and whats not. So I'm guessing we'll have our grades by next Friday, around the 25th. I'm sitting in Starbucks now studying for AUD. Hopefully my last exam. I'm really hoping for a 75 on FAR. Oh man, I really don't want to study for that again.
Hey Jeff, whats with this new forum? I liked the other one better.
Good luck everyone.
REG:79
BEC:76
FAR:?
Nate - the blog is still there, but it was a blog and not a forum...it had its limitations. Now, people can start their own topics, which is nice I think.
Jeff-
Hate to say this, but I'm hoping for FAR to be released second...my last section...can't take it...Its happen before...
yep - FAR was released 2nd in the Jan/Feb window Wave 2, I believe.
I would love FAR to be second. It's not even my last, but I'm so anxious to know whether I still only have 1 done, or if I'm half-way there now.
I'm almost done, too. FAR is my last one. I left there not knowing how I felt about it. It was definitely harder than any of the other exams I took. 1st testlet was fine, but the second and third were harder. Don't know if that's bc I was doing well or just didn't know the answer. Simulations weren't too bad. My strategy was an hour for each MC testlet and half hour for each sim - which worked out. I didn't let myself get stuck on an answer and if I coudln't figure it out I would just make my best educated guess and move on.
It is hard to tell what I think. When I left REG I would have bet my life on the fact that I failed, and I ended up with a 95. I put the same efforts into studying FAR but its never been a strong point for me, Financial accounting has always been a challenge!
I hope I can still pass by the skin of my teeth even though I had to make some good guesses on the 2nd and 3rd testlets.
Good luck to everyone else waiting for their scores.
-Morgan
AUD 91
BEC 82
REG 95
FAR ??
FAR is also my last one. The test was hard overall, however, the 1st testlet was pretty easy and it got harder from there. I was able to finish everything and feel ok about the test but dying to know what I actually got. When I took AUD I thought for sure I failed but got an 81. Let's prey and hope!!!!!
Roma:
I had the same gig. I thought I was sitting on top of the world after the first testlet. After that, things become hard and I was depressed by the third testlet. It was a hard exam overall. The sims were ok; I wasn't perfect but I still filled in the blanks...
I believe, FAR was released second in wave 1 of the current window. I was hoping to get my score then, since I took FAR July 3rd!!!! I am waiting for two and half months already!
where are you Sveta? which state?
I'm in VA
good luck, I am waiting for BEC in NY.
Thanks, Anita! Good luck to you too!
I just got my BEC score - I passed. Now, studying for Audit to take it next month.
Sveta - FAR was released 3rd in wave 1; Ive took my test July 11th and am anxiously waiting.
Congradulations! what material are you using, I passed Audit last window.
I took FAR on August 26, it practically knocked my cape off :) I probably don't have a chance of passing, but I have heard stranger things have happened with FAR. Oh well, if I don't pass, I will simply hit the books again. I have been doing it for the better part of the last year anyway, what's another couple months of studying.
I sat on July 21....waiting and waiting and waiting.....
cpa2009 ~
Maybe you're right about FAR being released third in wave 1, I am not sure. I only know that in VA it was released Aug 20, since this is the day I took my BEC exam; checked the forum - people were getting their results, and I didn't :(
Anita~
I am using Becker. I'm pretty satisfied with it. Congrats on passing Audit!
Thanks Sveta, I used becker but Wiley on the top
I think I'd die of old age before getting FAR scores back. Anxiety is unsurmountable.
Jeff, since the AICPA didn't release any score today, is it safe to say that FAR will be push back 1 or 2 days. Well i guess unless they decide to release it second or third.
This exam is horrible. The wait is ridiculous. After coming out of the BEC exam (which I was confident before entering) I was seriously considering quitting. I stopped reading the questions halfway through the third testlet. I got an 84. Thus, the exam has a sick curve. Granted I'm accustomed to knowing everything on exams (college exams) but the CPA does not call for perfection. You just need study a lot so you will be able to answer some questions.
I'm currently waiting for FAR. (I would pay $100 to escape another week of waiting) The first testlet was amazingly easy. The 2nd and 3rd were much harder but I definetely believe I put together enough to pass those. The Sims came out of left field. I'm a VERY slow writer, thus time was a huge issue. I'm curious to as how much you need to write and how strictly graded are the written communications. (A readable memo should be sufficient.. since the exam is testing if you can protect the public .. i mean you don't need to write amazingly to detect fraud or be an adequate accountant) Overall, I wanted to quit again after leaving that exam. (I felt raped) I didn't answer all the sims and research components but now feel optimistic because you don't have to be "that" good to pass. There's still hope even after you think you undoubtedly failed. Does anyone agree with me about still having a shot at passing despite not answering all sims? .. Also, someone posted they budget 30min for each sim and that is sufficient. Good bless you! I wish I could do that. I need to think before I go at it. I'm a ridiculously slow reader as well .. kills me during the whole test. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully we pass so we can call ourselves CPAs and go to parties where we'll be known as people who can fill out a tax return.
NJ Devilz, maybe you know this, but one thing that I learned on this website is that only one of written memos is graded. The other one is pre-test. In my case with auditing, I could almost definitely tell which one... but it's probably not always the case.
Also, in Becker they told us that it is important how well your thoughts are organized and how well you use terminology. Supposedly, they don't grade your knowledge of specific rules, the only thing is that you can't give illegal advice.
Lastly, let's remember that sims are only 30% of your grade and might contain pre-test (not graded) material in them... some people here were saying that they left most of simulations blank and still passed.
So, I am pretty sure that you have passed, especially with you saying that you were able to do harder M/C questions well.
NJ Devilz, I agree with you...the exam and the wait are horrible! I have now been waiting for two months for my FAR score. I took BEC last year and when I got to the third testlet I seriously considered just giving up and walking out....but that's what the test writers want. They want people to be intimidated by the exam. When the pass rate for FAR increased by 5% last quarter, the examiners decided to make FAR even tougher. Then our profession wonders why they cannot recruit more people to become CPAs. lol Between the cost of review materials, hotel rooms on the night before the test, and vacation time that I gave up from my job (time which I could have received in cash), I estimate that I have spent $3,000 (on an after-tax basis) per section to sit for the exam.....which is $12,000 for four parts. The cost of living here in the Northeast is high and with 9% unemployment in MA, it's not as if salaries are increasing to keep up with the cost of living. I am hoping that in time I will earn back that $12k with salary increases, but it will take a long time.
12k? Why do you go to a hotel? Are the testing centers that far away? i have 3 within 50 miles from me in Atlanta. I am waiting on the score for my fourth part and have spent 1.4k. $350 for Gleim test prep material and about $950 for the application and testing fees.
At 300/section * 13 sections = 3,900 + 3,000 in Becker 08 + 2,500 in Gleim 07 (- 2,500 paid by my previous employer) + 1,000 Wiley 07 (? paid for by my employer) + 60 Gleim 09 questions. = 6,960. Holy crap. :(
Well, I guess I feel bad for you. Maybe they didn't have it before but Becker allows for you to take there classes over again for free, pending that you complete their requirements. Power to you though for sticking it out. I'm pulling for you.....Where are these FAR scores?!?!?!?! meh, at least I have the Jets to make make me feel better this weekend.
J-E-T-S JET JETS JETS.......New England isn't even going to know what hit em.
I really hope FAR comes out by the end of next week... if I have wait another weekend I really may completely lose my mind!!
Same here!
Ugh! Same here ginabiniCT!
I feel your pain with cost involved with passing the exam. To add insult to injury, many firms (especially the Big ones) work us like slaves. Where's the benefit?
I saw on another71 twitter page that NASBA is having trouble releasing BEC and REG.
Does this mean that FAR will get pushed back? They really need to get off their butts
and be more efficient with grades. I took FAR in late August and feel i have no chance of passing but have heard many stories of people who thought the same and passed so I am trying to stay calm and hope for the best. I have REG passed and studying BEC now.
I would really like to know if i am going to have to open that FAR study material again.
Oh what an early christmas to find out that part is over with!
I'm figuring that Jeff's prediction of FAR being available for view on Tuesday the 22nd will be off. If BEC and REG still haven't been posted then FAR is going to have to wait for them first. I would say Friday the 25th is more realistic or even the following Monday. I hope I'm wrong ... I really want to see my passing grade despite my failure to complete a majority of the sims.
Last section, the wait is killing me! Can we get FAR now please?
MD_CPA_2B,
I am in the same situation. The wait is killing me.
Come on now Jeff...pull some strings, make some magic happen, get FAR released next.
So has the AICPA even released the scores yet? The prediction is listed as Saturday. Anyone know if that happened?
Nope, only BEC and REG so far.
I sent them an email regarding release date of FAR and here is the replied that I received "NASBA has no control regarding the release of examination scores. It is the AICPA that scores the examinations and determines the release dates. While some sections have just now started to be released, at this point in time the scores for FAR have not been. And we are not able to determine when this will occur. FAR scores may be released by the first of next week".
No, no, no. Ohhh man this is killing me. I was lucky to get through the weekend without going nuts over no scores being posted, but now they say AICPA might not release scores until next week?! It's been over 5 weeks since I took FAR (August 14th) and a coworker got his grade in under 3 weeks that took it in late July. Ridiculous. If BEC/REG scores aren't out yet, I can feel for those still waiting on those results. Let's not do the same with FAR scores, AICPA!
It's NASBA with the tech issues, not AICPA. AICPA is just naturally slow ;)
What time do Illinois' scores get posted? I don't know if I should check continually throughout the day or just at a certain time and then be done with it for the day!
5 weeks? Over 10 for me! I took it on July 10th AND it's my last one!
Same here, I took mine July 11th.
CPA2009, you missed it by days, otherwise you would get ur scores by end of july. My friend took it on 5th I think and he got his grade on july 23.
I took mine on Aug 3rd. I thought my wait was bad, but I see there are people who have been waiting way longer than I have. I feel your pain.
Just hoping to see the score before the end of this week.
can anyone tell me how could I get my score? I am in FL, but I dont know where I have to check for my score, can anyone tell me?
Thank you guys,
Eze
We are the forgotten ones. BEC and REG are celebrating and crying already, FAR still hasn't been released by the AICPA. Not only do we have to wait for the AICPA to release but after that we still have about 2 or 3 days of waiting. If we are lucky it looks like Friday will be the earliest. Prob mid next week is more realistic at this point. It's horrible. Everyone should just go to sleep for a week .. but unfortunately that isn't the case.
I sat on July 21....8 weeks ago...and still nothing. We should be able to grade the AICPA and NASBA on their performance!
I'm sure they already have our exam graded. They're probably sitting back with their cigars laughing at us suffering. We are their entertainment.
I WANT MY SCORE!!!!!
Eze,

I just checked mine and nothing.
If I get a 74 after this wait I will sue the AICPA for committing "constructive torture" under the Fair Treatment Of Students Act to which there is no defense.
I just found out that I passed Reg and I am waiting on this last score and I am done. All I need is a 75...
