Hi
I am using CPA Excel to prepare for the exam and have the self study course with text books and multiple choice questions. My question is that do i need any other study material to supplement my study or it covers everything?
Thank you

I use CPAExcel as well and supplement with Ninja products. I supplement in order to get a different perspective on the subjects. Sometimes things click better when explained a different way or simplified for you (like Ninja notes can do). So, to answer your question, CPAExcel does cover everything but the Ninja products can help reinforce what CPAExcel teaches.

September 11, 2014 at 6:27 pm #602038y_u_no_passParticipantIt depends on the person. I have used CPA Excel exclusively (trust me it is enough material to cover on its own) and scored fairly well on the two exams I've completed so far. I did supplement with self made flash cards from the review material. Some people seem to need more practice problems. If that is the case, an additional test bank can be helpful. There are only so many questions on CPA Excel.

I really like the notes because study programs try to teach you everything as if you didn't already know the material (which is very helpful at times).
But when I want to review and quiz myself (“hey, if I see this term am I going to recognize it and know what it relates to? etc”), then the NINJA notes are the way to go.
They aren't overly detailed so you really get a good feel for whether you know the material or not as you follow the notes (which are basically jacked up outlines on steroids)

The problem is that you need to find a way to hit the MCQ's hard while still covering the material, and keeping all of the subjects fresh. If you only use CPA Excel, you will get to the test and not remember the stuff that you went over at the beginning. Look up Jeff's Ninja method and figure out how to use CPA Excel, A test bank and you have to buy a notebook or two and fill it up.
September 11, 2014 at 7:23 pm #602041JuliemiddleMemberI use CPAExcel and Ninja Audio. I just like the audio notes to “study while I can't study” (driving, at the grocery store, etc.). But CPAExcel has all the material you need. And coming from me, that means something – I finished undergrad in 2004 & Masters in 2011. I haven't seen most of this material in a LONNNG time.
Just don't believe the study method in the CPAExcel exam planner. You will NOT pass with reviewing all the material once and then taking a practice CPA Exam. You'll need to go through all of the material the 1st time, review your notes, re-take alllll the MCQs you missed the first round, re-take notes, etc., etc. etc…until you can't fit one more mnemonic in your brain 🙂

AUD-75 YAY!!!!
REG-81
FAR- 73; 76-Feb.2014( Praise God!!!!!!!)
BEC- 73,65,78 and I am DONE!!!!!September 11, 2014 at 8:00 pm #602043DavidParticipantCPA Excel got me through BEC with only 16 hours of study time put in so it must have been very good.
I don't think it does a good job with AUD because I was killing their MCQs at like a 90%+, and walked out with a 74, then finally a 75.
On REG I think it does pretty good. I felt prepared, was scoring @80-85% on the MCQ, and then got a 76, so maybe a little lower than on their practice, but reasonable.
FAR was about like REG for me with their stuff. I found that I had to actually read their text though to get some concepts, I couldn't just get it off their computer modules.
One thing I did do with REG and eventually FAR, as I was going through the MCQ if I got one wrong and it seemed like a tough concept, or I consistently got it wrong, I made a flash card out of it on a 4×6 spiral bound note card pack.
Overall, I think it is probably the best VALUE out there amongst the study systems.
AUD-74,75(8/13)
REG-76(5/13)

I did less than half of the Wiley Test Bank questions. I was barely able to complete them because I only had a few days left by the time I was done with the CPA Excel course. I got a 71.
On the retake, I started off in Wiley Test Bank and hammered the questions. I reviewed some of the material in CPA Excel as needed. Any questions I got wrong in the test bank, I would make notes on those questions. I added Ninja Notes, Audio and Blitz. The Blitz I watched all the way through at least once. The content is the same as the audio except you also get the slides. I would listen to the audio whenever in the car, doing laundry, workouts etc. I reviewed several pages of the Ninja notes per day and my own notes periodically. I just kept hammering on the Test Bank and I scored an 82 on the retake.
I do think you have to go through CPA Excel, all of the material is in there. But as another person stated above, you have to mix in a lot of Test Bank questions and keep the total material relevant by constantly reviewing the notes.

September 12, 2014 at 1:11 am #602048alborelandParticipantCPA Excel doesn't have many questions. You will see them all again when you do a practice test.
September 12, 2014 at 1:29 am #602049Moonpie2015MemberI used CPA Excel entirely for REG scoring 68 and AUD scoring a 69. I would recommend additional MCQ bank because I noticed that I was getting to used to knowing what the answer was for that particular question without really knowing the item well enough. I had just done the questions so much that I just knew what to pick almost without reading it. I would recommend Wiley test bank which I am using this time and maybe Ninja MCQ. I may add Ninja MCQ bank next week for Reg as I am retaking it in Oct.
