CPA Experience Verification Question

I live in a state where the CPA who verifies your work experience must only have “direct knowledge” of your work and must also have “reviewed your work”. I’m an auditor for a major corporation, but unfortunately I don’t have any CPAs in my department. My question is this, can I have someone from another department within my company sign my application to verify my work?

Also, could I hire another CPA outside my company to review my work and sign it? I would think both scenarios would work just fine as technically, both would have “knowledge” of my work and would have reviewed my work, right?

Will the CPA who signs my application be held liable or could there be any negative consequences? I wouldn’t think so since the rules are so vague, it would just be a misinterpretation of the rules…

    Thoughts? Thanks everyone!

Probably a question best posed to your state board. I'm not sure how someone outside of your company would have ” direct knowledge” of your work,

    BEC -75

Were there any CPAs you worked under previously that may not work there anymore? I live in Louisiana and the only CPA I worked under now lives in North Carolina so I had to call her and get her to write my letter verifying my experience.

    REG - 78
    BEC - 74, 67, 69, 69, 70, 79
    FAR - 76
    AUD - 69, 69, 69, 74, 85

    Licensed Louisiana CPA
