    Hi

I have two windows to pass this last exam before credit for AUD falls off. It falls of Aug 20 2015. can I sit Aud 19 and still be ok? or do I have to get my scores back before AUG 20? This is a hypothetical.

    AUDIT - 79
    FAR - 64, 77
    BEC - 69, 71,79 - DONE!
    REG - 60, 75

Nothing in the 80s ; however, I worked full time the whole time! (like 10 hour days) so it can be done 🙂

You would want to call your State Board and ask them directly. It's going to vary from state to state.

Typically you need to sit (not receive final score) before the expiration date, but definitely call your state board. IMO, they need to extend the 18-month rule or do away with it altogether. It's extortion in my eyes.

I don't think it's extortion. ANYONE could pass if they had their entire life to take 4 exams. Part of the challenge they are testing is how well you can handle a lot of material in a shorter period of time. They have the weed out the bad ones, it's more challenging than college.

Ok, maybe no timeline is a bit much, but 24 months instead of 18 is reasonable I think. The excuse is that new material is constantly being released/updated, but majority of workplaces have trainings, CPE, etc. to keep everyone updated anyway.

It becomes a slippery slope once they start changing the time frame.

18 months is more than enough time if you actually try.

I may be biased since I have passed all sections well before the 18 month mark, but I think it is a good hurdle to have to jump and makes the license that much more difficult to obtain-retaining more value for the CPA brand. I've known many people that have had their previous 3 exams expire because they couldn't pass their last section with remaining attempts. Had they not expired, they could have been CPAs today(assuming they didn't start all over and re-pass expired sections). I would assume attempting 16 tries at one section over 4 years would result in one pass, making a CPA that wouldn't have been one do to the expiry rules. My dear mom works at a grocery store and was telling customers I sat for and passed the CPA exam and all of them just something along the lines of “Wow! I've heard that's super hard!”. What kind of reputation would it have if you could take your whole life to pass at your leisure? lol! Good luck on your remaining exams funtimes!

I agree, the challenge and difficulty are what make the CPA valuable and prestigious.
