\nI am on the same boat in orlando too
\nlet me know if you got lucky\n
I'm seriously considering working for free as well.
\nI'm in Orlando too.\n
\nSleepless and p_prince5 am sure you will get something in Orlando am originally from Kissimmee FL, moved to Los Angeles 8 years ago but am seriously thinking of moving back to FL once I pass all parts of the CPA. I definately will be hunting for something in the Buena Vista area if not then my next move is Miami.\n
\nShould be easy finding a small/accounting firm or practioner. Look in Craigs List or Google for some CPAs.\n
\nI've email small to large CPA in the Orlando area, good news is that they responded, bad news is they either don't have opening or too swamped to apprentice me. I contacted some old professors and the same response. But, I won't get discouraged. I will keep trying. I was told I have to get the work experience within 3 yrs. I wonder if working at HR Block will count toward those experience. They are always hiring during the tax season.\n
\nI'm not sure if this would work for you - I have a couple of friends in Miami and Tampa who work together trying to build up their practice/clients. They are both CPAs and hope to grow their firm. They may be too far and too small for your taste, but maybe they would be willing to do some marketing in Orlando for the 2011 tax seaon.......Send an email to JulioMoralesUSA@yahoo.com. I met them both in the IRS Nationwide Tax Forum in Orlando this past August 2010.\n
\nOk thank you so much. I will email them and see what they can do for me.\n
\nOh man I feel for you guys... I'm in Orlando too. I fortunately have a job offer for when I graduate in 3 months, but I am the ONLY one of my friends in grad school right now who has an offer. And I have a lot of friends! I don't even know what to tell them because they are all wonderful smart bright people that have so much to offer. It's just so slim-picking right now.
\np.s. be careful with Craigslist! You'd be better off with an employment-focused search engine, I have yet to hear of a valid job offer on Craigslist, but have had a ton of friends scammed off of there....\n
\nFL_Candidate, if you don't mind me asking, how was the interview process with the company that hired you and what did you have to do to get the initial interview.\n
