Hi,

I live in California and passed all my CPA exams in 2012. However, at the current level in my career, I have not been able to get the experience requirement done to get my license. This is because my bosses have either allowed their CPA licenses to expire or did not have one. At my current level in my career, it is getting more difficult to find work under someone who has an active CPA license and I am not able to handle the huge pay cut if I were to go into Audit and start over at the associate level (sick wife, and a baby, and mortgage).

Because of this, I have been thinking about applying for my license in a state where they have an option to bypass the experience requirement. I heard Colorado is one, but am looking for some others to compare. Once I get the non-experience license there, I want to then try to transfer the license back to California. Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this or has done it before? Trying to get advice on the best way to do this.

The place that you work doesn't get an annual audit? That was my biggest thing when I started taking my exam since no one is a CPA at my work let alone directly above me. Lucky for me we get an annual audit and I have been here for 5 years. So our external auditor will write my letter if I can get past this last test.
