I have a Deloitte contact whom I reached out to when I found I passed my last exam on June 9. She informed me she was out of the office for 3-4 more weeks with a broken leg but she would email me when she was back in the office so we could get lunch.

Its been almost 8 weeks and I haven’t heard anything. I’d really like to message her so I can finally get into a big 4 office! Suggestions?

Do what you say. If you said you would follow up in 4 weeks, then you should have followed up a month ago. If you didn't say you would follow up in 4 weeks, then you made a mistake in not setting a clear expectation.

Either way, if you haven't followed up, you should. As a busy professional, I barely remember what I promised a week ago, let alone two months ago…

She was going to follow up in 4 weeks and didn't; no surprise, probably came back to a mountain of work and 9,000 emails.

Just reply to your last email as follow up.

Follow up with her. It's hard getting back to work after being out for a while. She likely forgot.

Thanks for the advice. I wanted to be clear I didn't say I would follow up, she said she would. I know she is extremely busy so didn't want to seem like I was knocking down her door yelling “HIRE ME!!!!!”
