So i just realized that i will have to pay the stupid application fee every time i apply for a section. I applied got my NTS for Reg. I paid $145 app fee and $172 for the actual Reg test.

Well now i just noticed that i can apply for all exams and my app fee will be $95 + 192+192+172 or i can keep applying section by section and its going to be 65 app fee every time i apply.

    REG-77
BEC -Waiting on score May 5th
    AUD - May 30

I did, half out of cheapness, half to get everything booked and light a fire. (I paid for, and scheduled all exams at once)

I did this too by accident, thinking that I had 6 months to SCHEDULE my exams instead of taking them. I ended up only taking 2 during this window…but my application fee is $50 so it's not as big of a deal as I care. I'm more pissed that I have to pay to register the actual tests again.

I applied for all four sections at once, but only because Virginia allows 12 months to take the exams compared to the normalized six months. (which is awesome)

Yes, and it was a mistake. I ended up failing some sections and rescheduling a few. I took at least one exam when I wasn't ready and failed it because it was scheduled and paid for and I decided to sit for it “just for the heck of it.”

Try doing two at a time. That worked better for me.

If you think you can get all four tests out of the way in two testing windows, then go ahead and pay for everything.

Personally, I was a little unsure about my studying discipline so I did two on my first NTS and will do at least two when I apply for my second NTS. Yeah, it's gonna cost a little extra now, but I wasn't sure if I could do FAR and AUD in May and wanted to play it safe.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

It really is a money making scheme IMO. You like most other accountants are probably frugal (myself included). So to save money they hope you dive in head first and pay for all of them and fail a few which = more money for prometric, AICPA, etc.

The first time through I paid for all 4, thinking I could cram and that exam dates were any day you wanted – not whenever prometric had openings. Anything less than 5 weeks of studying doesn't work for me. So if you are ready to take the first exam and somehow planned out getting your NTS on the day you wanted to take the exam (which is really hard for a first time applicant) you'd be on the right track. If you then got the other 3 test dates you wanted and spaced them out how you wanted then sure it is doable. I failed every test. By having the NTS only good for 6 months and every 3rd month closed I think they are setting candidates up for failure. Why? IMO to make money and make it more difficult.

This time around I am giving myself enough time 9 weeks for FAR (passed), about 8 for AUD (passed) and 8 for REG (passed). I signed up for 2, 1 and 1. I've passed 3 so far but had no idea I actually would so paying 3 times for that stupid application fee was worth it for me.
