Discouraged

I have been studying all summer, started in mid April, right after tax season and took AUD the end of May… I got a 72. I decided to retake it, instead of moving onto another section… retake was mid-July… I got a 72. I already have FAR scheduled for the latest date possible, b/c of NTS dates, in mid-October but I am having a REALLY hard time focusing when I haven’t passed a section and I have spent my entire summer studying… it doesn’t help that I work full-time and am SUPER busy at work also. I was hoping to get an easier section done, to motivate me to push through the harder ones, ie why I decided to take FAR after AUD, but watching the videos and doing the MCQs, I basically just feel like I am going to fail. I try to have a positive attitude, but its hard when you work in a firm, as a public accountant and everyone says, oh you’ll be fine, or how did you fail, you’re so smart. Or you’re expected to handle multiple jobs (1st year senior), deadlines, travel clients and studying. Not to mention I am engaged and my fiance goes out every weekend because I would feel bad making him stay in and suffer with me. I’ve probably gained 25 pounds from sitting in front of my computer for 4 hours a night, every night.

I am mentally and physically exhausted.

Any suggestions or motivation would be extremely helpful. :/ Does anyone feel the same/have similar situations?

    FAR - 84.
    AUD - X,X,76.
    REG - X,X,75.
    BEC - X,X,74*, 81 AND IM DONE!!!!!!

*if i dont pass, i lose FAR.

Study materials: Becker videos/MCQ/Books, NINJA Blitz helped to finally pass AUD and REG.

First exam was in May 2013, seems like so long ago - FINALLY DONE!!!

Struggling, there is no easy section. All of them seem to be better than FAR though. We feel your pain, but the best thing to do is study. Maybe try using your ninjas audio at work. I have learned that when I hear something over and over it sticks better. Even in when it seems to be chaos or busy.

More than anything, don't give up. 72 says your not far from 75. Many of us have spent plenty of summers, family outing, birthdays and etc..for the three little letters..Cpa. so get ready for fall and. winter. But we hope you pass.

So come on, try again…you can do it :-))

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader.....time to pass

It is very discouraging to retake a section, but you just need to find the method that helps you the most. For me, it was rewriting my notes and really doing far too many MCQs to mention.

It's hard when you're busy, but it's not forever and well worth the effort.

    You can do this.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

you are not alone.. trust me… its summertime right now.. about 75 degrees in the evening.. it's FRIDAY.. my friends are out drinking beer, some fishing, some clubbing, some partying at somebody's mansion… some just hanging out at a lounge…

and me…what am i doing? i'm at home, my eyes hurt from staring at a cpu for 12+ hours a day b/c i work in accounting too, so along with a full day's work, and come home, i still study.. and on this forum… trying to study from other people's questions.. i think i feel your pain..

to make it worst.. my four thousand dollar Lasik is going to waste…well, after my exam, i'll have to redo it.

I am in the same boat. I have been studying all summer and failed 1 test…find out about #2 on Monday. I would be just as frustrated if I got a second fail like you, so I totally understand. However, we are already knee-deep in this. There is no turning back. We gotta keep going and get this thing done once and for all. When you get back to AUD, do something a little extra to get those few points you are missing. Maybe more time reviewing? Or do more MCQs…or if you did not do it before, re-write your notes before reviewing so material sticks better. Anything extra should get you up there to a 75. Let's not give up!!! Remember the pain is only temporary, but if we quit, it will last forever!

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

I know exactly what you are going thru too. I took BEC in April failed with a 60. Took it again in July and failed with a 72. I also failed AUD in there too. I'm retaking AUD again on oct 2 and after going thru the review program I'm doing about 150-200 mcqs a day to keep the material fresh. After I got my score for my second BEC fail I had a hard time finding the motivation to study again. But I've been studying and doing as many questions as possible. I seem to understand the material better by doing more questions.

No one is allowed to give up before I do … And I'm not quitting!! You can do this if you want it badly enough. The clubs, friends, beer and fish will be there when you are done. Make the decision to pass, buckle down and show them how it's done! Good luck!
