Discrete vs blended presentation

I’m working my way through some simulations and came across one that asks to identify which are component units or primary gov’ts and then to identify if it will be a blended or discrete presentation. I’ve been trying to understand beakers explanation in the book, but it doesn’t seem to register for me.

Could someone please shed some light on when is an entity considered a component unit and if it is, how do you know if it is discrete or blended presentation?

Lol. We really are clones. I'm reviewing F9 right now for my exam on the 3rd and I'm floating around pages 6-8 trying to tie this stuff down.

I get the suspicion it's the wording of the MCQs that throw me off. In concept it's pretty simple:

-If you are clearly separate you go on your own (financially independent and legally separate).

-If you are not on your own but have a similar board or total service to the primary government you just blend with primary.

-If you are not on your own and DON'T have a similar board or total service to the primary gov you are a separate discrete column.

Probably not helping much, but that's about all I got, lol.

Thank you very much RIST! That helps a lot actually. A lot better than beakers poor attempt at explaining it. You're right though, the wording of the MCQ can seem ambiguous.

I've been crushing MCQ all day and attempting an occasional SIM. The gov't cash flow statement SIM would just be awful to get on exam day!! You feel ready??

Ready as I'll ever be I suppose. I honestly don't think much more prep would help so I'm just doing a prog test a day and reviewing the confusing parts.

I just hate we have to wait until August 1 to get the scores. Almost a full month… Ugh. A bit nervous since I know a lot of people who failed this, but I'm pretty confident in my abilities so I'm just looking to get this done at this point!

Yeah, I'm right there with you. Kinda ridiculous to have to wait a month to receive scores. Nasba, you have one job!! jk lol. I'm feeling pretty confident also. I just can't stop looking at stuff cause I keep saying “what if that one extra thing you look at will be the difference in 75 and 74” haha

I just wish there wasn't so much material. Thats what makes me nervous cause you have no idea what you could get! Expect the worst and pray for the best I suppose.
