I sent a bunch of LinkedIn requests to various managers and partners. I am trying to network so that I can network into Big4 somehow. Is this possible? Any advice? Thoughts?

I guess it is possible. I personally wouldn't do that though. Networking with people you don't already know – or the first part of it anyways is usually better done in person. Now if it is an old college friend and you wanna grab some coffee and talk about his job, then via social media is ok. Spamming a bunch of partners/managers is a no, especially sine they can be busy. If you wanna spam someone – hit up the campus recruiter with a nice message seeing if an informational interview to learn more could be set up or ask if there will be any recruiting events/ open houses in near future would be the way to go

I am manager level and I send requests all the time. Just make sure they are in your practice area, and it makes sense to connect with them. I have messaged MDs/Partners and received feedback. They didn't have opportunities but they were nice enough to respond within a few days…

Do some companies search for candidates on LinkedIn? I know 2 persons who are no longer with their firms for about a year ago, but their profiles have not been updated. They used out-of-date profiles to make connections and looked for jobs.
