Do CPA Scores Expire After Passing All the Tests?

    Hi all,

So I have just finished up my exams and was wondering if the CPA exam credits can expire if you don’t get your license within a certain time frame. My board has been awful at responding to my questions on what I need to do next, so I just want to make sure that my work doesn’t go to waste because of the passage of time.

    BEC - 88

    It depends. What state?

I know for my state (AZ) the scores never expire, but I've heard of some other states (NY I think?) where the scores expire after a reasonable amount of time; something like 5 or 10 years.

    BEC - 72, 82! ✓
    FAR - 80! ✓
    AUD - 70, 92! ✓
    REG - 74, 78! ✓

I was looking at my home state's requirements earlier (Virginia). I didn't read anything about it expiring, but it did affect the required number of CPE credits needed for licensing; which the max is required for those who passed the exam more than 2 years ago. Prob doesn't help much, but figured I would get the ball rolling.

    BEC - 68, 77 (Becker)
    AUD - 75 (Becker)
    REG - 73, 73 (Becker), 81 (Becker + Ninja MCQ = HIYA!)
FAR - 76 (Becker lecture + Ninja MCQ = Double HIYA!)
    AICPA Ethics - 91

    never give up... never surrender...

You have 3 years to get licensed in a lot of states now or you lose your scores. Florida, Massachusetts, and Maryland come to mind off my head, but other states have moved or are moving towards this.

shankysays- I am in AZ also! It is nice they don't expire 🙂 I was worried that other states require you to apply within 3 years.

CPA central is also still reflecting expiry dates based on the 18 months period from when I passed each of the individual subjects, when will this change to reflect 3 years?

    FAR - 80 (Roger + Wiley TB) May 2014
    AUD - 82 (Roger + Gleim TB + Wiley TB) August 2014
    REG - 79 (Gleim + Gleim TB) November 2014

@shacai: I called the NY state board in I believe October/November 2014 to ask about that before. The woman told me that NY scores last 10 years. After that you are required to do CPE to stay up to date.

    BEC x1 - Passed
    REG x2 - Passed
    Audit x1 - Passed
    FAR x2 - Passed

    BEC: ☑ x1 attempt(s)
    REG: ☑ x2 ''
    AUD: ☑ x1 ''
    FAR: ☑ x2 ''

    Done!

Is there a good way to check the requirements for CA/WA? I might be moving to those states, so I want to make sure I have my ducks in a row. I can't imagine having to do these exams all over again 🙁

    FAR - 84

    BEC - 88
    REG - 77
