Can I use my 2011 Wiley book and Yaeger lectures to prepare for the REG exam I plan to take in April or will it be completely out of date? I did not know if I NEED to spend $550 and use the 2012 version in order to pass.

Do you need updated material.....
....to pass? No.
....to get the best possible score? Yes.
The latter gives you more odds of passing. In my 2012 REG book, there are changes here and there that are good to know, but aren't that essential to passing. But if you happen to get 1 or 2 questions on updated topics, it could mean the difference between a 74 and 75.

Thanks, CPAMan. I understand having the most current information is most beneficial. I have also heard how difficult REG can be!! Perhaps I will just purchase the 2012 Wiley Book but not the lectures. At least I will have updated information I can read.

I think it really depends on what content you are lacking from the 2011 version, and when you are sitting for REG.
With Becker they give updates constantly throughout the year to the material. And the AICPA tests on amounts that have been in effect for the previous 6 months. So if you are taking REG 2012 in the first quarter AND have the most current 2011 amounts, then you should be fine.
If you don't plan on taking REG until later in the year, then 2012 material would be safer.
