I have only taken one exam so far and that was BEC. Because it was only 2.5 hours I didn’t see the need for a break. Would you recommend a break for the other 3 parts? Specifically AUD which I am taking Thursday?

    Thanks 🙂

    BEC - 53, 67, retake 2/28/11
    AUD - 54, retake 05/28/11
    FAR - ?
    REG - ?

It is up to you. I have never taken an actual break. If I need a mental break I just sit in my chair and stare at the ceiling. Don't drink much water beforehand… (go to the bathroom before you sign in). And have a light snack before you're taking the test.

And just get use to sitting for the people of time and testing.

AUD for most people does not take the full time. I did it with 1.5hrs to spare and I was not rushing.

I am one that needs breaks, I guess that's just how I am though. I took breaks after every testlet on my two exams so far. Even if they take about a minute I need to just get out of that stupid room and get a quick drink of water. My first exam, the a/c was broken and it was about 95 in the testing center so I was chugging a bottle of water between each testlet to just stay hydrated and have a snack during it. During BEC I took them just to make me slow down since I am a fast test taker and sometimes just go into overdrive. I'm taking Audit on Friday and plan on taking breaks even if it is just to stretch my legs and walk around the tiny area your allowed to go into…..

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96

I never have taken a break, and probably won't on my last tomorrow.. I just drink/eat lots beforehand, use the bathroom before I start my test, and get it done. The time goes very fast and somehow I stay pretty focused. You have TONS of time on AUD, so I would suggest it if you need to get out for a mental break.

I take breaks between every testlet, provided that I feel I have enough time (i.e. came in “under budget” for my total time after each testlet).

It's amazing what a quick pee break, a drink of water, a vending machine bag of Doritos, and a minute of fresh air does to clear my mind.

I took two breaks in AUD. The 1st was after the m/c and went outside to take a smoke break. 2nd break was after the 1st sim since it killed me and ate an energy bar and an energy drink. after finishing the exam, I finished my energy bar while smoking a cig staring at the prometric ppl from the outside bc my 2nd sim was a beast too. I was a bit pissed.

    REG (Apr. '10) - 88
    BEC (May '10) - 79

I always take breaks – it's nice to walk around. My breaks usually consist of just walking out of the testing room and then back in but for some reason it helps!

    FAR-91 (7/29)
    AUD-99 (8/23)
    BEC-90 (10/1)
    REG-99 (11/3)

These responses are 3 years old, so I'm wondering what the general consensus is now about taking breaks.

I plan on taking breaks between each testlet for my exam on Monday. I tend to be a fast test taker so when i took AUD in May i finished the exam with an hour to spare. This time I would like to slow down and refocus before each teslet. Generally I've only taken breaks if i have to use the bathroom but not between every testlet. My Prometric people tend to be pretty fast with checking you in and out for breaks and there never seems to be an overabundance of people taking the exams there.
