I was trying to find a private CPA tutor so that the process of studying is better structured and lead by an individual that already went through the process and can help avoiding mistakes that most people make. Does Another71 have such services? If not, any tutorson this website from central Ohio?

What review material are your using? I used Becker, which provided “structure” through its review material. Another71 is a community of CPA Exam newbies and experienced Alumni. Feel free to use the community as your tutor. You wouldn't be the only one.

Read the FAQ's about setting up study sessions locally. Just doesn't want to be liable in the event the student or tutor isn't on the up and up.

    Okay.. I don't live in Ohio…

I would actually say the best private tutor is my boss and my co-workers…? Well, when I was studying this exam, I worked in the Finance Department and my job involve intensive workload in accounting, finance, economics, auditing and management… End up doing lots of research and asking tons of questions

I actually favors the community over a tutor.. it's cheap and fast.. You can get answers within 2 minutes (since tutor is probably only available in the tutoring hour…)

I will also give my work a lot of credits because they are actually hands-on experience related to both the test and my career. After running through my job… I was able to go into the test center and said “oh…I saw this situation before in my job… the answer must be B”..

No study plan as of now, just looking into options. While studying for cia designation I came to realization that self study is just not for me. Plus there are too many distractions at home 😉 I'm still waiting on evaluation of my diplomas and planning on enrolling into FastPass program once the evaluation is complete. The reason I was considering a tutor is to expedite the study process.

From my vantage point, a review course is basically a tutor in a box so to speak.

They take a book and break it down (in theory).

If you're lacking the motivation to study – and need someone to hold you accountable, then that's more along the lines of a coach.

Yellowsugar, that's great that you were able to use the actual real life experience. I'm in audit and definetly will be able to use that experience when studying.
