Does anyone get creeped out in the office late at night?

During busy season, there’s been times when I’ve stayed til the AMs and I’ll be the only person left and it creeps me out. But I prefer working in the office vs. at home (obviously single and awesome life here :D)…

Anyway, I was just listening to music and a commercial came on and it involved a skit with a door knock and I got freaked out thinking there was something behind me… Also, just random noises in general give me the creeps.

    Okay, end random thoughts…

Our office occupies the entire floor of a 30 story building, and to access, it requires us to first use our swipe card to access our restricted floor in the elevator. Then, once off the elevator, we have a glass wall area which then needs to be accessed by using a swipe card to gain access to our actual office suite. After hours, whenever someone swipes to gain access to our suite, a very audible chime can be heard anywhere in the office.

Overall, I feel very safe here in this office. Much better improvement than our last office where we were one of three tenants on the floor and we had doors which you could physically unlock and leave unlocked. Over a span of 5 years, we had three different times where a guy would just walk thru our suite (zombie state) and just walk out. Wouldn't stop for anyone. Some others were joking that they could throw a stapler or 2-hole punch at the guy if he started attacking people.

The worst now is leaving our office suite and getting to your car in the parking garage. We've had a few break-ins lately and it makes our female staff a little anxious going to their cars at night.

Speaking of female staff, our female bathroom has it's own separate key! Is the parking lot in an open space? That would probably scare me, especially when it gets really eerie and quiet outside…

I used to get creeped out, so now I carry a knife in my purse. It makes me feel like a badass.

@s2sylvir We have an underground parking garage, which is used by the tenants of our building, but also used by the general public. It's open to anyone who wants to walk into it from multiple access points.

Our building security will escort people to their car after hours, and most if the males in our office will volunteer to walk out females too.

You can never be too safe, which is why I try to convince others to take their personal security seriously.

Three words for you!!! Concealed Carry Permit! Get one and know how to use it. But make sure your firm is ok with it. My new office is adjacent to a not so good part of town. My husband asked me if I wanted a panic button installed under my desk. I told him that I already had a panic button. He looked confused. I told him that my panic button was called Taurus .380. I feel safe and he doesn't worry.

I only get creeped out when I start hearing Wanda Sykes voices in my head. That's when I know its time to pack up and go home because I'm too tired to be productive.

I work for the Government. Carrying a weapon to work is a bit frowned upon 😉

Hahaha, love both the humorous and serious posts alike. I don't think I'd ever carry a concealed weapon though…

@Tripp11 Agreed. Better safe than sorry!

In New Jersey, you basically need to be a police officer to get a concealed carry permit. It's a real shame, too because it would come in handy working in Philly. In all seriousness, I've never had a problem, but I'm also 6'4″ and 250 lbs. I think most people up to no good would rather go pick on someone that weighs 100 to 150 lbs less than me.

We do have a new hire that creeps me out. I voted him most likely to have a dead stripper in his trunk. He also talks to himself in the bathroom stalls. He's basically an all-around weird cat. Despite having scored over 90 on all his exams, he's basically only good for scanning things for 10 hrs at a time. He's too weird to put in front of a client.

Of course. When I'm studying late and feeling tired, I always get the feeling Jeff Elliot will jump out of the closet wearing a Ninja costume and tap me on the forehead reminding me to study or else I won't pass. As I'm about to turn to him and say something he has already disappeared and left behind is the Ninja A71 logo to let me know he was there.

………………I want that logo. Could it be a car decal so it can be reused XD?

I heard once upon a time that people who were being tortured by MCQs could shine a bright ninja signal into the night for salvation. But then he had to stop because he sold Batman the rights to the concept.

It is super creepy at night. The city started doing construction right across from our offices, where they took out the road in front and are currently building more offices and such. Anyway, at night, it's really quiet, but you can hear the construction equipment making noises, like creepy squeaky noises. It freaks me out sometimes. Also, there's a hospital near and of course their grounds are smoke free, so you will see random people walking down the sidewalks and such smoking their cigs.
