Don't know if I can focus

I just failed AUD with a 65 so I’m restudying for it. But at the same time, I recently applied for another job and since Christmas and New Year’s is coming up, it’s safe to say that this process probably will go well into January 2015. The fact that this probably is not going to be resolved anytime soon is already proving to be a huge distraction for me, and I don’t know how I can focus on either of the things, on being calm and patient for this process to play out, and on being motivated to prepare well for the third attempt at AUD. Anyone else going through something similar, and how are you coping with it?

Well I am only on a second attempt so far and you are much further than me, but I am just diving in. It is not easy to revisit something I have already given a ton of hours to. I am not going to lie. Looking forward to reading other responses.

I actually think the job change is de-railing. I have had problems with job changes and studying before. It is like even if you know how to do the job, it takes you months to settle into it. At least for me. Best of luck.

2 big things going on simultaneously. One you have no control over and the other you have 100% control over. Seems like a no brainier to me.

I say choose your focus. For me it was completing the testing and I put my MBA program on hold, not soliciting new business or work, until this is done. I am only taking a Spanish class to keep me sane.

But then I am confident I can pass these things, it is just a matter of work. I am not winning any EWS awards, and I am ok with that too. The amount of time and memorization for that I don't have the patience or the inclination for. And I am not sure it is worth it in general, and specifically not to me. It is all relative.

If I were failing repeatedly, I would choose an intermediate goal first (EA, CIA, CMA, MAcc, etc). It is better to have something to show for your efforts than nothing.
