I'm sorry about your struggles. Although I passed my first cpa a part, I've experienced failures on other exams. I was gonna go to med school and did terrible on mcat. I realized the major change in my studies that brought me success. I used to start out tepidly studying material for awhile, as I was scared of the material. So for cpa studying, that would be like skimming over a review book for a week before picking ip the pace. What changed for me was when my auditing professor showed us a wild approach of immediately diving into the questions. Now this is extreme, and I would not recommend diving in blindly, but for the most part when given the choice to simply read material or to attack questions/actively read and discuss material, choose the active method.
Also, usually people pick up the study pace in the few days before an exam. The way I see it, I don't want to combine the pressure of a test in 4 days with having to work the hardest. Rather, I push the hardest when I'm a couple/few weeks out. Just go for monster 8 hour study days when there is 17 days left before test. That way, you will be almost twiddling your thumbs wondering what to do 2 days before. It leads to resting up a bit more, skimming over notes the day before, and a fresh body and mind on test day. I know it's tough to push without the test bearing down, but do your best to try.
Lastly, when you answer questions correct, ask yourself if you can explain exactly why it's right like if you were teaching a friend who knows nothing. I did that with my wife and I think she could pass too!
Best of luck to you!
