Exam Experience on the computer (I have terrible eyes & wear contacts)

Taking AUD next week and I’m getting nervous about the actual experience of the exam being on a computer. When studying I much prefer being able to write things down and when taking tests I usually make notes on the actual question so as to emphasize certain words, underline, etc.

When doing these practice tests I find that after awhile my eyes start to hurt/get tired/contacts start to dry out and I start to skim the questions for important words, but sometimes miss an “except” or “not true” part of a question. So for Becker review I’ve had my zoom % on really high and brightness a little lower so that way I don’t have to squint and my eyes last a lot longer. I know with AUD reading the question is VERY important, so I want to hopefully try to avoid any negative circumstances with my eyes come test day.

Are you able to adjust your zoom % or brightness on computer in actual exam? Do you have any form of scratch paper/ something to write on?

    AUD: 99 (11/26/2014)
    BEC: 1/5/2015
    REG: 2/27/2015
    FAR: 5/18/2015

Using Becker Review, but will add Ninja MCQ for FAR&REG.

When you applied for your NTS, did you make a request for accommodations?

I would call the Prometric center first thing in the morning and explain the situation to see if they can zoom it for you.

The font at my Prometric always seems a little too large– I wish I could make it smaller. So maybe you will be okay.

They give you a couple of laminated boards and dry erase pens. Not as nice as pencil and paper, but better than nothing. If you fill them up, you can ask for more.

If you are really nervous about this and want to relieve some anxiety, you could try their Test Drive program. It's $30 and you get to go through a trial run including fingerprints, sitting at the monitor and answering questions, etc. If you don't have time to schedule that, maybe you can go scout the center out informally.

I had a similar problem with screens until I got LASIK. It's expensive, but definitely worth it. I don't know your financial situation.

I think the OP made out alright considering he banged out a 99

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

I wonder how his score would have changed without the contacts issue?

I've forgotten my glasses for 3 out of 4 tests and physically moved the monitor closer to me in order to compensate. No one has ever said a thing.
