Has anyone had any experience with this CPA Exam Review course?

Has anyone had any experience with this CPA Exam Review course?
nope but I bet it is a fun way to KILL JOY
but really I heard good things about it........it is alot like Gleim and Wiley questions..........
I see about 80% of the same questions in both of those review courses
also, I have taken.......CPAexcel(but I see alot of home made ones here so it gives you some surprises) and the same for CPAreviewforfree
I think you should read material and then work problems and apply your knowledge........if exam matrix does not have reading material........it will only be useful as a supplement
Currently using exam matrix, anyone else?
Ok, cool. I am currently scheduled to take my first exam (BEC) August 27th. I also like ExamMatrix, although you dont hear much about it on these boards.
What kind of study system is ExamMatrix?
How much does it cost? Can you buy it per section?
I passed Reg with Exammatrix. I like it better than Becker. It guides you to the areas you need to learn. Becker keeps giving you information in the same order, it is easy to remember the answer and not get the concepts. If you answer the question wrong, it keeps giving you question in that area till you learn it.
Cowpatty,
Exam matrix does have reading material and dvd's.
anyone studying from exammatrix? please email me toronto_troubleshooter@yahoo.com
I'm bumping this thread since I have the same question. Anyone use this?
First of all, I took BEC and REG twice, and AUD and FAR 3 times before passing. I highly recommend Exammatrix. I passed BEC and REG using it alone, although with a 75 and 76. I think time wise, it is a very efficient program. I barely failed AUD and FAR using it alone. 72 and 74. The 3rd time I used Wiley test bank with Exammatrix and passed easily. 81 and 84. It has very good simulation questions too. It is just the best software as far as how they give you the answers and references, definitions and explanations for each question. It is much more affordable then the lecture programs, that for me anyway is a waste of valuable time. I did get lots of help from Yeager's Auditing lectures, but that is the only one i'd recommend to compliment Wiley and Exammatrix. Also, the customer service was very good. I should mention I bought the Cram courses for the other sections the first time I took and failed all four parts miserably, and did not not benefit from them the lectures.
Thanks for the info. I plan on buy 2012 for BEC when it comes out. I've scored in the low 70s a few times and hope this will get me over the hump by forcing me to focus on problem areas that I am unaware of.
Anyone else have input?
I used ExamMatrix for my first and second FAR attempts, and for my first BEC attempt. It didn't work for me because I need more than just questions. I learn best by reading text. I can see this program being excellent for someone who doesn't need anything other than questions. I'd definitely supplement it with a Wiley book or something along those lines... unless ExamMatrix has greatly improved their text books since I used it (a couple years ago). The books were borderline unuseable because they were so difficult to read when I used it.
I used ExamMatrix almost exclusively for BEC, AUD, and REG and passed each on the first attempt. I did review the NINJAs for each the week prior to my exams, too.
For FAR, I used CPAexcel as I felt I needed the content lectures and notes. In hindsight, I think ExamMatrix would have been sufficient for it also.
I agree. The books are too difficult to read. They are good reference material. When I supplemented Wiley books and test bank with Exammatrix I passed with flying colors. Exammatrix is great to learn governmental and non-profit. Although, they actually have too many questions on those subjects to where it was overkill. I got "stronger" on all my FAR tests for those topics, but they are only about 10% of the test. Also, Exammatrix totally drops the ball on IFRS. There is literally only a couple of questions on the subject and they are worthless. If they do not update their software in the area for 2012, then I would not recommend. I have to believe they will get up to date. I did use the Wiley for IFRS, but it was still lacking after taking the exam twice in 2011. I have to think all the review programs will know what to teach on the subject in the coming year.
Personally, I suck at AUD, so made only a 72 with Exammatrix alone. After watching Yaeger videos and adding Wiley, I made an 81.
To add. I really felt like Exammatrix was my secret weapon, and did not post about it until after I passed. It is just so much more enjoyable(for lack of a better word : ) to sit down and do the problems than the other programs.
I've used the materials for AUD and FAR. I passed the first time both tries. I skipped over about 75 pages in FAR because I knew that the stuff was not going to be on the test, but I felt it has been good.
The basics:
-It is a self-study program with no set program of how much you should be studying each day, it does have a recommendation but it is ridiculous and not worth looking at
-Books with software that has only multiple choice and simulations
-No IFRS - not sure what they will be doing for 2012, but this is the biggest weakness
-The support staff is extremely amateur
-It is very cheap (relatively), I got all 4 parts with software for $700
-The software has been buggy for me where one week it would freeze every 50 questions or so, it's off and on
If you need a lecture or have a hard time studying on your own it is not for you.
