I am seeking to better my Excel skills for usage in typical accounting duties. I know there are myriad videos on youtube, such as from EXCELISFUN; however, I am looking for a more structured course starting at pretty much beginner level.

Any forum members have a recommendation for such a course?

I'm interested in this as well. I found some Excel classes online at Udemy that were pretty cheap. Has anyone had any experience with Udemy?

I found a good VBA /Macro class offering which I will hit next. Wanted to get a structured program on the basics before moving on to the more advanced stuff.

have you checked out Lynda.com? They were recently bought by LinkedIn (who just got bought by Microsoft??) so I'm not sure how long they'll be around. They were offering a free trial to LinkedIn members.

Your local library should have plenty of books from beginner to advanced level.

    Aud: 42 (ouch)

    All others TBD

I will check out Lynda. I utilized them for something previously. Was hoping someone on here had previously taken an Excel for accountants course.

In undergrad we were required to take an Excel course, it was recommended to take the Microsoft Excel Intermediate course (the one that you are certified from Microsoft when you are done). I would recommend that. It really covers all the basics, then adds upon the foundation in a logical way. This lets you use Excel like an artist rather than as a craft project.

Also, the best tip I ever got from my instructor was this: each week take one idea (shortcut, new concept, anything you think is cool) and write it on a post it note to stick on your work monitor. See how many times you can use that during the week. Practical application is the best way to learn.

I'm in the same boat. I'm comfortable

    FAR 91 - 04/16
    BEC 87 - 05/15
    REG 77 - 07/27
    AUD 92 - 08/31
