Exit opportunities from Federal Tax

Hi all, excuse me if this question has been asked multiple time already in the past. So I am a second year tax staff at EY at their Federal Tax practice. Mostly what I do currently is compliance and provision work (i.e. dealing with ASC 740, FIN 48, etc.), Hope I will get into more consulting type of projects next year when I become a senior. Right now I am not looking to go elsewhere just yet. But eventually I think I will after another 2 or 3 years or maybe more. My questions are:

what kinds of exit opportunities out there for someone like me?

Will I be too pigeonholed from what I do (I really enjoy what I do though, I like those technical stuff)?

Should I branch out to some other areas, for example international tax, to make my skills more diverse and transferrable?

Please shed some light on this if you have similar experience or been in similar situations. Thanks much.

Definitely don't leave until you've made senior. There aren't many jobs in the gap between intern/just out of school and senior associate. That being said, international tax is ripe with opportunity. Tons of senior associate/manager openings related to it.

    HTH!

Yea, I definitely will stay until senior before considering any moves. I am just not sure if a sole specialization in federal tax would be enough to further a career in corporate tax in industry.

Yes there are jobs for people who work in federal tax, although many companies will want someone with international experience as well for high level jobs.
